Department Overview

The Internal Audit Division at TD is comprised of trusted audit professionals who interact with every part of the Bank to provide strategic guidance and independent oversight. Through due diligence, and with a strong sense of integrity, we help mitigate potential risks to our business. At the heart of audit is our specialization in all the businesses across the bank.

About The Program

The Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Pre-Approved Associate Program is an immersive 30-month program designed to help you step into our world of finance. The goal of the program is to develop a leadership pipeline for individuals committed to pursuing a career in Audit.

If you have a sharp analytical mind coupled with excellent communication skills and a tendency to get to the bottom of things, we want you to be part of our leadership rotational program.

In this program you’ll rotate* across Internal Audit teams and Finance functions in order to develop CPA competencies, expand your network and gain understanding of some groups within TD Finance:

  • Internal Audit (2x nine-month rotations): See the bank from the “third line of defense” perspective and deliver high quality assurance services to our diverse internal audit clients. Internal Audit Groups could include teams such as: TD Securities Audit, Retail Audit, IT Audit, Wealth and Insurance Audit, and Finance Audit.

  • Chief Accountant’s Department (1x twelve-month rotation): Gain exposure to the world of financial reporting and implementation of accounting policies in the organization.

OR

  • Finance (1x twelve-month rotation): Gain experience in planning, budgeting and forecasting in a TD Business Line Finance team

*We align rotation opportunities with our business strategies to ensure you work on the most important priorities.

Our CPA Pre-Approved Associates also receive:

  • Full coverage of exam and module fees related to the CPA PEP program

  • External training in preparation for the Common Final Examination (CFE)

  • Apply audit, accounting and finance principles to perform internal audit engagements, research and implementation projects for Chief Accountants, and complete finance duties

  • Define opportunities for continued enhancements to business processes and make recommendations within assigned area(s) of responsibility

Experience Growth:

  • Get regular feedback and support from the CPA Program Manager and CPA Mentors

  • Receive performance assessment and coaching for each rotation

  • Receive CPA-related training in addition to on-the-job experience

  • Multitask and prioritize competing deadlines and project considerations

  • Show initiative and interest in self-development and learning through rotations

Cultivate our Culture of Care:

  • Build a wide network between multiple audit and finance teams

  • Interact with other CPA Associates to share learnings and network within the organization

Additional Information

Educational Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree with all required courses for entry into CPA PEP program (by the start date in 2025)

  • Meets CPA PEP entry grade requirements, as outlined by CPA Ontario (see CPA Ontario website)

This is a Toronto-based program starting in the Fall of 2025.
