What you’ll be doing

This role resides within CIBC’s Third Party Governance Office (TPGO) within the Technology, Infrastructure and Innovation team. TPGO is accountable for the design and operating effectiveness of the Bank’s TPRM Program, and for operationalizing and integrating the TPRM Program with procurement activities.

Working closely with other third-party risk management life cycle functions and stakeholders, the Senior Consultant, will support the Due Diligence team to ensure CIBC’s third party risk methodology practices are executed to a high standard, and our business partners understand risks that we manage and monitor. This includes supporting third party due diligence activities managed by TPGO, including risk reports from start to finish, and monitoring and reporting of associated key risk metrics.

How you’ll succeed

  • Third Party Governance : support the execution of due diligence assessments to enable effective controls pertaining to third party arrangements. Along with our key risk partners, you will help determine if the potential risks that are inherent to the product and/or service are appropriately mitigated by the Third Party or Bank’s processes and controls.

  • Control Group/Risk Area Due Diligence : support the completion of control group (i.e.: concentration risk, criticality assessment, supplier financial viability, etc.) due diligence activities per their individual risk management methodologies, to provide an evaluation of the controls environment, and enable an assessment of the design effectiveness of such controls. This includes activities such as:

o liaising with applicable line of business and third party to determine if the risk area is appropriately mitigated

o initiating the issues management process if required

o supporting the design and development of control group risk reporting and metrics.

o supporting the control program by creating applicable action plans to address heightened risks and working with relationships managers and line of businesses for approval and implementation.

  • Relationship Building: establish and maintain relationships with the third party risk community, to understand their needs and support the evolution of our processes and services.

  • Data Focused: give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating problems, and making sense of information. You're confident in your ability to critically think about problems, and communicate detailed information in an impactful way.

Who you are

  • You have demonstrated experience in risk management. You have 5+ years of experience in supporting the execution of third party risk-based programs, or similar operational risk areas. It's an asset if you have Financial Services experience or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
