The Team

Senior QA Manager Contributes to the overall success of Commerce Engineering in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

  • Be an advocate for quality in the project lifecycle.

  • Provide leadership to the team, champion a high-performance environment in an inclusive work environment and perform people management responsibilities including hiring, professional development, performance management and coaching of the team.

  • Manage testing for projects and initiatives across multiple applications, review requirements, provide estimates, resource allocation and capacity management.

  • Lead the team to perform various types of testing including Automation testing, Performance testing, Functional testing, Accessibility testing, User Interface testing, Cross-platform testing, and work closely with the team to review test documentation, oversee testing activities, and mitigate risks.

  • Coordinate the completion of Quality Assurance deliverables on time, as per the schedule, by working in collaboration with cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.

  • Prioritize testing of projects effectively across various businesses, to drive efficient work.

  • Provide regular status updates and call out risks and issues to release and project timelines, conduct root cause analysis of post-production issues and plan to prevent them in future.

  • Introduce new tools, technologies, methodologies for Quality Assurance, and lead initiatives to streamline QA processes and implement best practices, on a continuous basis, to act as an agent for change to the organization.

  • Have in-depth and up-to-date understanding of the organization’s products, applications, systems, environments, processes and tools.

  • Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field such as computer science, computer engineering or related field preferred

  • 10+ years of Quality Assurance experience, with proficiency in testing websites, mobile web and mobile apps and expertise in Automation testing, Performance testing, Functional testing, Accessibility testing, User Interface testing, and Cross-platform testing

  • 5+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Manager, leading QA deliverables of large teams

  • Experience of leading teams to encourage both individual and collaborative innovation

  • Experience of working on banking systems in a Financial Institution

  • Have detail-oriented approach to testing

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Positive and resilient personality - Able to embrace feedback and have a desire for continuous iteration and improvement
