What Is the Opportunity?

Travelers is seeking a Quality Engineering Software Analyst to join our organization as we grow and transform our Technology landscape. Individual will work as part of a team to complete basic programming/testing/analysis/coordination tasks.

What Will You Do?

  • Complete basic analysis, coding/scripting, testing, debugging, configuration, incident investigation, documentation, application health monitoring/alerting, and implementation of programs.

  • Review software requirements, prepare and execute test scenarios.

  • Analyze and report test results on database impacts, errors or bugs, and usability.

  • Interact with clients to understand product requirements.

  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on requirements, product design, and potential problems.

  • Coordination across different teams on a variety of technical issues including deployment of complex software to different test regions– understand the problem and help build a consensus on a solution.

  • Apply knowledge of current industry trends and techniques to formulate solutions within the context of assigned projects.

  • Develop basic business knowledge and terminology through daily work assignments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor's degree plus one year of technology internship or work experience.

  • Technical skills - Java, Javascript/Python, ReactJs, SQL, TDD (nice to have), Selenium, UCD, Jenkins

  • Experience - Agile methodology exposure (preferred), Automation and automation scripts, BDD, CI/CD, DevOps exposure, Rally/Jira knowledge (helpful)

  • Delivery - Basic analytical skills for programming/ configuration tasks, identifying discrepancies, incident and defect trends and resolutions, solution delivery, monitoring and/or support of applications of basic complexity. Working knowledge of test techniques and compatibility with various software programs. In addition, demonstrates an aptitude for learning assigned supported business systems and technology.

  • Domain Expertise - Beginning domain expertise including the ability to learn from research, others and through asking thoughtful questions, open to seizing opportunities to increase knowledge.

  • Problem Solving - Basic problem solving skills including the ability to recognize and analyze basic technology defects and incidents and develop timely, practical, cost effective solutions with supervisory assistance as well as identify cause and effect relationships in assigned systems and applications.

  • Communication - Good communication skills including the ability to communicate thoughts/ideas clearly and to effectively contribute and communicate with the immediate team.

  • Leadership - Foundational leadership potential including the ability to accept direction and guidance while learning what traits are valuable in a leader, be transparent about what you do not understand and need help with, and communicate this to the appropriate parties, and receive feedback with an eye towards improving.

What is a Must Have?

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
