Intuit Principal Designer, AI Team, Intuit Design System in Toronto, Ontario

Our goal is to deliver company-wide, multi-theme design system for Intuit’s AI solutions that accelerates Intuit’s mission by delivering innovative and foundational design system guidelines, tools, and services that support Intuit designers and developers across TurboTax, QuickBooks, Credit Karma, Mailchimp, and many other Intuit offerings.

To help us achieve this, we are seeking a systems-thinking Principal Designer for the IDS’s AI team focused on artificial intelligence-based experiences. In this role, you'll utilize your visual, interaction, and user research skills to help craft our vision and define the business strategy for our artificial intelligence offerings in partnership with a multiplicity of engineers, designers, and product leaders. Designers at Intuit are persuasive, data-driven storytellers. They motivate teams to seek, utilize and deliver customer insights throughout the product and service lifecycle, providing teams with relevant recommendations and holding them accountable to insights.

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years of experience in system design, visual design, interaction design, product design, product engineering, user research or related field

  • 1- 3 years of work experience doing design/UX research projects in a professional environment, preferably in a technology company or consulting firm.

  • A track record of successfully scoping and managing research engagements throughout the human-centered design process in close collaboration with cross functional stakeholders (marketing, design, product managers, customer success, etc.)

  • Depth of qualitative research craft including: ethnographic research, site visits, usability testing, and putting together long-term research plans.

  • Able to analyze and synthesize qualitative and quantitative information and deliver actionable insights and findings to inform design and product decisions

  • Some experience designing quant UX studies, experiments, and/or surveys and analyzing data a plus.

  • Mastery of design tools (especially Figma), with a deep understanding of library design best practices, versioning, performance optimization, and analytics

  • Practical design systems experience that shows strong ownership of or significant contribution to an existing design system that impacts millions of customers

  • A clear understanding and point of view on how generative and predictive artificial intelligence will change product design, and how design systems can be cohesively applied across web and mobile to support that evolution

  • Examples of design and development advocacy that led to breakthrough adoption of design system tools, processes, or artifacts

  • Highly collaborative team spirit able to take in multiple points of view, synthesize decisions, and communicate outcomes across the organization

  • Artistry and excellence in simplifying complex ideas, identifying risks and dependencies, and delivering for customers within the constraints of technology

  • Confidence in managing through ambiguity with a track record of creative problem solving that demonstrates flexibility

  • A love for technology, and an insatiable curiosity for new tools to solve real problems

  • Excels at and leads experimentation with evaluative and generative research methodologies.

  • (Nice to Have) Coaches teams in conducting lean experiments, defines and tracks experience metrics at the BU/FG level and helps adjust product strategy based on these metrics

  • Champions a holistic customer perspective (e.g., E2E, cross-platform, ecosystem) based on multiple data sources, including field data, analytics, behavioral trends, and market research

How you will lead

  • Lead the research that guides the design of generative and predictive artificial intelligence components and interaction patterns for Intuit's design system focused on Intuit Assist and the underlying GenOS platform upon which it is built.

  • Turn research findings into expertly curated IDS Figma libraries and associated design system documentation.

  • Bring teams together across the company through workshops and sprints to align on innovative scalable solutions.

  • Create the customer validation strategy that allows us to discover new ways in which generative and predictive artificial intelligence can scale throughout our product ecosystem via experimentation and and assist in the establishment of the company’s design strategy for artificial intelligence.

  • Act as a subject matter expert on the human side of artificial intelligence and how to envision a best in class experiences to other designers and developers implementing our work into their products.

  • Seamlessly partner with product developers to realize the implementation of design system elements with a high degree of understanding and care for the craft of engineering.

  • Work across business units with diverse customer needs and business challenges to identify and drive opportunities for end-to-end design and better customer outcomes.

  • Extend the language of our design system to influence the company’s ability to design for emotion at scale.
