G&C OVERVIEW

TD Wealth's Governance & Control (G&C) team partners with the Wealth businesses to design, implement, maintain and monitor effective internal controls and ensure business activities remain within TD Bank's risk appetite and comply with external regulatory requirements.

The team is responsible for ensuring timely and consistent implementation – across all Wealth businesses – of all risk, control and governance programs, initiatives, policies and strategic business projects. The Wealth Governance & Control team acts as the primary contact for the Wealth businesses, working closely with subject matter experts from each Wealth business line. The team works together with the business leaders to implement Wealth-wide Governance & Control methodologies, policy frameworks, standards and practices and are key members of enterprise projects / programs requiring Wealth representation.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE & THE WEALTH REGULATORY AFFAIRS TEAM

The role of Manager, Strategic Initiatives will be responsible for supporting strategic initiatives and provide reporting support on Regulatory Affairs and Governance & Control initiatives.

The Regulatory Affairs team is made up of four pillars:

  • Business Risk Oversight & Privacy

  • Regulatory Change

  • Tax Advisory & Oversight

  • Regulatory Exam Management

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Manager , Strategic Initiatives reports to the AVP, Regulatory Affairs and provides accurate, timely, and high-quality reporting, analysis, and advice supporting Strategic initiatives, you will partner with cross functional teams and develop detailed performance management reporting and insightful analysis on various initiatives across the Operational Efficiency Program to validate, measure and forecast the program benefits . We are looking for self-motivated individuals that have strong analytical skills and can communicate their findings succinctly.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet with the Regulatory affairs functions regularly to understand and review their operations, to develop dashboard and operational reports.

  • Prepare and present materials including reports, powerpoint presentations on various topics that relate to regulatory affairs and/or Governance and Controls to executives across TD Wealth.

  • Develop program-based reporting to provide status update, issues, KPIs, and action plans for the respective business area and continuously enhance reporting, as needed

  • Consolidates information, summarizes issues, analyzes trends and provides regular reporting to senior management and lines of business partners using digitalization and visualization

  • Determine and analyze key performance drivers relevant to the business.

  • Develop meaningful reporting that is responsive to the changing business, providing key insights and related recommendations that translate into sound business decisions.

  • Produce insightful, meaningful, and analytical commentary that can simplify complex matters into a well-crafted story/call-to-action, to allow stakeholders to drive decisions.

  • Work on special projects assigned by the AVP. This could include assisting work overflow in the various functions within the Regulatory affairs team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • 7+ years' experience ideally working for a financial institution, consulting firm, and/or regulator

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in report development, analysis, consulting, corporate communications/media or strategy development.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and proactive problem management skills.

  • Experience working with data sets, and complex information building reporting dashboard that drive strategic insights.

  • Excellent organization skills and ability to consume large volumes of information and summarize it in a meaningful way for stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) to communicate clearly at all levels, including ability to prepare executive level decks, memos and reports is a must

  • Highly driven with an exceptionally strong work ethic, possesses a team mentality and able to work independently.

  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to manage work under tight timelines and changing priorities.

Technical Knowledge/Skills

  • Excellent Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint skills is a must, experience using business intelligence tools (i.e Tableau, Python, R, Power BI, SQL) is considered an asset.

  • Advanced skills with Microsoft product suite (Excel, PowerPoint,) is a must.

Education

  • Completion of a University degree and/or equivalent work experience,

  • Post graduate degree (MBA) is considered an asset
