The Opportunity

McDonald’s Canada has a 9-month fixed term contract opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist, supporting the People and Total Rewards teams. Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards, you will be a key member of the Toronto-based team, participating in a cross functional team to help modernize our people platforms and ways of working. This position will help to drive the employee experience of our corporate and restaurant employees, across the entire employee lifecycle, including HR Administration, Benefits, Onboarding.

Position Description

Our Human Resources Generalist will focus on:

  • Liaising with the People Team to outline current processes and help be a change agent for process improvements. 

  • Acting as an internal generalist: You will develop an understanding of the organization and People Policies to manage inquiries from both the business and HR team members to ensure policies and practices are applied consistently. You will provide advice to the business and HR colleagues on questions relating to HR/Benefit administration

The day-to-day benefit administration: You will act as the day-to-day benefits administrator and work with the People team and vendors on any employee and Franchisee questions and escalations with the guidance from the Total Rewards Manager 

  • Assist with the administering of the retirement programs.  

  • Support with the administration the fleet program and annual Fleet order cycle: You will assist with day-today fleet administration and the annual order cycle and work closely with the vendor on employee issues/questions.

  • Supporting the evolution of our global Total Rewards programs: You will have the opportunity to work on HR team projects and undertake additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Our Human Resources Generalist will have:

  • The education. Post-secondary education in Human Resources/related field of a combination of experience and education. CHRP designation and CCP designation preferred.

  • The experience. 3+ years of HR Generalist experience with knowledge of benefits program administration as an asset 

  • The collaborative and communication skills. Refined consultative approach that engages stakeholders in a collaborative manor. Very strong customer focus with keen attention to detail and ability to translate requirements into action. Excellent written, oral and presentation skills. 

  • Ability to present and communicate information and recommendations based on target audience.

  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and able to learn new task quickly.

  • Able to effectively prioritize and organize multiple projects with strict deadlines.  Strong Problem-solving skills.

  • This role is based in Toronto and requires in person attendance 3 days/weekly. French language skills would be an asset but are not required.
