Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Internal Control Unit, ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed/delivered supporting the International Banking’s Retail & Digital business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

The Manager, IB Internal Control Retail & Insurance will work very closely with local sales practice officers and local Internal Control teams across International Banking jurisdictions. The role proactively identifies internal and external non-financial risk drivers and supports the development of action plans to manage risk.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in executing and maintaining a robust IB Retail and Insurance sales practice program, including policies and procedures reviews, monitoring KPIs, and reporting.

  • Support and manage country/business line inquiries related to policy reporting, metrics, and measurements.

  • Act as a subject matter expert, and collaborate with key stakeholders, on Scorecard, What Counts, Pulse, and other sales practice policies.

  • Leverage employee and customer feedback information across all channels and retail/insurance units to identify key trends and themes to enhance our holistic sales practices view and potential areas for further development.

  • Follow vulnerability resolution governance to ensure corrective actions are implemented and completed for any identified issues.

  • Act as a strategic partner to the Retail and Insurance area teams, ensuring challenges and issues are addressed effectively.

  • Support Retail and Insurance Risk Owners to define risk appetite, metrics, and thresholds for ongoing monitoring including developing sub-business line Risk Appetite Statements.

  • Support the annual division review process of post-sale KRIs and annual threshold limits.

  • Support and provide guidance to country/business lines on Retail and Insurance audit findings and Internal Control review remediation efforts as required; ensuring operational deficiencies are addressed and operational soundness is maintained. Proactive follow-up to ensure that commitments are delivered on time.

  • Monitor events in Retail and Insurance banking, identifying new and emerging issues, regulatory initiatives, and providing insight to local business owners.

  • Support the Director in all aspects of major strategic internal control change initiatives, leveraging process and technology solutions that can be shared across IB and provide consistency with Bank models.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify key divisional internal control processes for re-engineering, aligning policies and procedures.

  • Maintain and enhance operations and process that support retail and insurance controls across IB jurisdictions and various divisional non-financial risk guidelines.

  • Documented procedures for all operational and development processes

  • Controls framework across development and maintenance activities

  • Version control, upgrade planning and testing

  • Change management and communication of changes to policies/processes

  • Main point of contact for regular and ad-hoc analysis and remediation activities to stakeholders.

  • Provide oversight, ongoing monitoring, support, and independent review to ensure effective and efficient risk assessment and adequate controls are in place within the supported countries.

  • Support the development and implementation of retail and insurance internal control governance framework for organizational structures to reduce duplication of accountabilities and addresses best practices in spans and layers.

  • Share Internal Control review recommendations and Lessons Learned to ensure consistent application of key internal controls which contribute to sustained improvement of risk key performance indicators across retail and insurance banking units.

  • Monitor and support the implementation and delivery of operational risk metrics and indicators to ensure adherence to the District/Country risk appetite, including reporting at the District/Country level.

  • Support and provide guidance on ongoing and additional retail and insurance management projects as required.

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

What You'll Bring:

  • University Undergraduate Degree.

  • +5 years of Business Line Risk management work experience.

  • Superior written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Spanish is required.

  • Ability to learn, and assimilate, learned information into recommendations and strategies quickly.

Thorough knowledge of:

  • Internal control & Risk Management policies/processes/platforms/protocols

  • The Bank's operational policies, procedures, systems, and organizational structure

  • Retail, Small Business, and Insurance products and services, including supporting systems, routines and operating procedures, and external indicator reports

Work Arrangement:

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common. Limited travel internationally.
