Job Description:

Reporting to the VP, Financial Crimes Risk Management (FCRM), Data and Model Management, we are looking for an accomplished leader to join our team as the Assistant Vice President (AVP), FCRM, Model Management AVP, FCRM, Model Management, Customer Risk Rating (CAN & EAP). Develops and maintains a clear roadmap/strategy covering the full lifecycle for Customer Risk Rating models owned by FCRM, including model design, development, maintenance, monitoring, and BAU testing. Ensures the Customer Risk Rating models owned by FCRM meet TD's Model Risk Management standards and represents the Customer Risk Rating models throughout Model Validation and any internal or external testing on Customer Risk Rating models.

Individual Role Accountabilities and Decision Authorities / Breadth, Depth & Scope:

  • Manages and develops advanced models for all Customer Risk Rating (CRR) related system and technology projects, including model design, optimization/tuning, monitoring, testing, and documentation

  • Owns CRR model management framework, quantitative and qualitative testing and optimization, as well as any tasks that may require interaction with TD technology with respect to CRR

  • Continuously benchmarks with peers to define the maturity of TD's CRR capabilities to enhance the model's maturity

  • Drives risk-based decisioning and modeling innovations in financial crime risk management using advanced statistics and big data as related to CRR

  • Determines strategy for implementing enhancements or changes to CRR models, ensuring alignment to Canadian – and other applicable jurisdictional – regulatory expectations and TD's risk appetite

  • Manages a team of FCRM professionals and data scientists to develop a clear product vision, strategy and roadmap covering the full model management lifecycle

  • Provides people management leadership by hiring the best talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing employee performance and compensation decisions, promoting teamwork and handling any/all disciplinary actions, as required

Shared Responsibilities / Decision Authorities:

  • Works closely with internal FCRM counterparts to develop and maintain consistent and appropriate Customer Risk Rating strategy, solutions, and processes

  • Works hand-in-hand with stakeholders including FCRM Advisory/Risk Oversight teams, the FIU, Model Risk Management, Model Validation team members, etc. to lead Customer Risk Rating changes and resolve impediments along the way

  • Collaborates with the Governance team who owns the governance of the Customer Risk Rating ("CRR")

  • Influences roadmap for Customer Risk Rating and recommends optimization of FCRM data relevant to the CRR models

Capabilities Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of AML regulations, risks, and appropriate controls

  • Deep understanding of CRR models and vendor products (e.g., SAS, Actimize, Oracle, BAE, etc.) and understanding of implementing these applications within TD or other peers

  • Knowledge of red flags and typologies in the US and Canada

  • Knowledge and appreciation of the key concepts associated with risk management including inherent risks, controls and residual risk

  • Ability to solve problems logically and /or creative, demonstrating professional judgement, quality control and adherence to high standards

  • Proven research and analytical skills

  • Business acumen

  • Strategic and creative thinking

  • Project leadership skills

  • Strong communications skills - active listening, written and verbal communication, presentation skills

  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to build networks and partnerships at all levels within the organization

Skills, Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree required

  • 15+ years of relevant AML and risk modeling experience and/or management experience in a Risk function

  • Significant exposure to common CRR models

  • Experience in developing documentation that meets the highest regulatory standards and audit requirements
