What You’ll Be Doing

As an Associate, Business Management, Global Markets you’ll be responsible for contributing to the Business Management function, with dual responsibility to supporting day-to-day business activities in Fixed Income, Currencies and Commodities (FICC), Global Markets Financing and Financial Resource Management (GMF & FRM) businesses, as well as onboarding products for Capital Markets and Treasury businesses. You'll act as a liaison between the businesses (Front Office) and the rest of the Bank (“stakeholders”) for product initiatives and on issues and inquiries pertaining to business activities, i.e., strategic initiatives, projects, regulatory & compliance matters, etc.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Strategic & Business Planning : You’ll support and contribute to strategic and business planning working with the Business Managers, as well as assist in project management of new initiatives including Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs).

  • Execution Support: You’ll work with other Business Managers in partnering with infrastructure groups to implement business plans and execute strategic initiatives. You will assist other Business Managers and Finance Business Support to develop Senior Management and Board Presentations, presentations for onsite/offsite conferences and ad-hoc presentations. You will oversee the collection, management, and analysis of data for Quarterly Dashboards, including operational losses, revenue and other key performance metrics, ensuring accurate and timely reporting to Sr. Leadership. You will need to be accessible to the business throughout the day to actively respond to ad-hoc information requirements/ requests/ projects and resolve day-to-day issues.

  • Product Initiatives: You’ll facilitate onboarding of product initiatives across Capital Markets and Treasury across all regions via established approval process. You’ll be responsible to prioritize and facilitate approval of time-sensitive one-off transaction requests by engaging appropriate stakeholders. You will act as a liaison between product initiative sponsors and stakeholders including Risk Management, Finance, Operations, Regulatory Change Management, Technology teams, etc. to address and resolve issues and inquiries expediently. It will be your responsibility to manage and track product initiative life cycle from submission to prioritization to testing to obtaining approvals. You’ll participate in status update meetings with stakeholders and update and generate slides for meetings as required.

  • Governance & Compliance: You’ll coordinate and attest to CIBC governance functions – user access, contracts, etc. You’ll ensure Risk Delegations and Authorized Product lists are up-to-date; support the completion of Volcker-related documentation; coordinate update of Front Office Policies & Procedures; coordinate and respond to auditor/regulator requests, findings and reports; coordinate completion of contract intakes and third party risk assessments; manage Global Markets intranet resources; and develop and implement improvements to internal procedures and practices including effective and documented internal control structure as evidenced by policies and procedures specific to the individual business activities.

Who You Are

  • You have 3-5 years’ experience working in capital markets or a corporate development function. You bring strong knowledge of capital markets products (products and processes).

  • You have an Undergraduate degree; MBA/CFA/CA is an asset.

  • You're digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience analyzing large volumes of data and developing management reports.

  • You know that details matter. You notice things that others don't. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making. You have strong problem solving, analytical, judgment and change-implementation capabilities.
