Intuit Assistant General Counsel - Products Legal in Toronto, Ontario

As a member of the Product Counseling team, you’ll partner with innovative product teams to ensure we can achieve our business strategy and deliver amazing customer benefits while ensuring we stay compliant.

As the primary product counsel for Intuit’s Canada Consumer Group offerings, you’ll advise and counsel on a wide variety of matters, including AI/ML, consumer protection, data privacy and data protection, mobile, intellectual property, policy, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate is passionate and tech-savvy, with a solid understanding of product compliance as well as innovation generally.

Please note that this role will be working hybrid within our Toronto site with an expectation to be in-office 2-3x per week.

What you'll bring

  • At least 6-8 years of experience primarily advising technology companies, either at a law firm or in-house

  • Significant breadth of knowledge in as many of the following areas as possible: consumer protection, AI/ML, advertising and marketing laws, financial services, data privacy and protection, IP, mobile and cloud computing, and competition law

  • Comfort navigating uncharted areas and balancing risk and opportunity

  • Ability to think creatively and enable smart decision-making

  • Ability to communicate effectively and counsel business partners about regulatory obligations and risk management, especially cross-borders

  • Ability to produce clear and succinct legal analysis

  • Ability to interact with and lead change with senior executive leaders

  • Ability to effectively frame issues to drive strategic thinking and execution

  • Excellent communication, teaching, and training skills

  • Excellent driver and project manager

  • Excellent business acumen

  • Demonstrated ability to perform with minimal supervision

  • Experience providing legal support on a global scale

  • Member of at least one Canadian Bar

  • Familiarity with payments laws, money movement, and money transmission preferred

  • Experience with FCAC, OSFI, FINTRAC, and/or Payments Canada preferred

How you will lead

  • As the primary product counsel for Intuit’s Canada Consumer Group offerings, you’ll be challenged to apply your legal expertise across a number of areas, partnering closely with product management, business strategy, engineering, content design, marketing, security, compliance and operations teams, and more.

  • You’ll provide advice and counseling on a variety of cutting edge matters, including AI/ML, data privacy, financial services, mobile and cloud computing, advertising and marketing, IP, and regulatory compliance.
