Contributes to the overall success of the Global Payment Operations – Payments Accounting in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are compliant with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
Works in collaboration with other team members to ensure accounting activities are aligned to standard operating procedures and are being performed in a timely and accurate manner
Conducts a review of accounting entries submitted by business units to ensure reasonability and approvals are provided
Communicates with business users to advise of any issues found with transactions requests submitted
Reviews and makes recommendations to improve standard operating procedures for accounting operations
Supports Managers/Asst. Managers on escalation of accounting issues
Interacts remotely with processing team(s) in Global Business Services campus (Bogota, Colombia)
Contributes subject matter expertise to help maintain relevant policies
Captures data points that contributes to the reporting of operations SLAs / KPIs / KRIs
Conducts analysis of operational support data to gather insights and suggest process improvements
Conducts training for new team members and business users for the processing and submission of accounting entries
Prepare job aids that proactively help to reduce support volume and resolution times.
Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
College Diploma or an equivalent combination of education and work experience in accounting
University degree in Finance or related studies, a definite asset.
Excellent knowledge of PeopleSoft AP, Microsoft 365 including Excel and SharePoint
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and cooperatively with a team
Ability to listen, understand and handle business user inquiries in a timely manner
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Good problem-solving and time management skills
Excellent flexibility and change management skills
Demonstrates interest to learn
