About the Position: Serve as the technical and administrative supervisor over the Machine Shop Branch, exercising full supervisory responsibility over work operations. Responsibilities Plan weekly and monthly work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates. Determine how many assignments can be done concurrently, which ones must be delayed, and the number and types of employees needed, considering skills, personnel, materials, and equipment available and required. Explain work requirements, methods, and procedures; instructs subordinates in new procedures; and provides advice when problems arise. Adjust plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to accomplish the work as effectively and economically as feasible. Determines equipment, supplies, and maintenance required. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Toolmaker Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include programming, setting up and operating machines of the machinist trade, i.e., internal and external grinders, tool and cutter grinders, milling machines, lathes, shapers, and profile grinders; to include material selection and machining to very close tolerances. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use Hand Tools for Machine Shop Ability To Use Shop Drawings Knowledge of Metals Measurement and Layout Operation of Machine Tools Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Physical Effort: Work requires continuous standing on concrete floors, moderate physical effort in setting up machines, and considerable stooping, reaching, lifting and handling of tools and instruments. Working Conditions: Works indoors in a well-lighted and heated shop, subject to dust, dirt and fumes, and possible danger to eyes and skin from flying hot metal chips, to lungs from grinding dust, and to fingers and hands from moving and positioning machine attachments, stock metal, part, etc. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. This is a(n) Logistics Career Field position.
