This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation for Domestic Defense Industrial Base & Major Range and Test Facilities Base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serve as an Industial Equipment Mechanic for Tooele Army Depot. Responsibilities Installs, repairs, modifies, maintains, and adjusts ammunition peculiar equipment. Installs, repairs, modifies, maintains, and adjusts demilitarization machines encompassing mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Disassembles and repairs general industrial production and ammunition peculiar equipment and systems. Operates conventional machine shop equipment to fabricate, repair, or recondition parts for equipment. Occasionally performs minor electrical and plumbing repairs. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Industrial Equipment Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Installing, maintaining, and/or repairing general industrial plant machinery and equipment. Interpreting detailed specifications in detecting malfunctions and determining corrective measures. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: Frequently handles objects weighing up to 45 pounds, and with help, occasionally carries objects weighing over 45 pounds for considerable distances. Work requires frequent bending, stooping, standing, pushing, pulling, crawling, and/or climbing for sustained periods of time. Working Conditions: Work is performed inside and outside. Incumbent is subject to weather conditions; exposure to shop and considerable equipment noise; smashed fingers, bruises, and strained muscles while positioning equipment and components; burns from hot chips and welding and electrical equipment; and falls from elevated ramps, ladders, and inclined structures. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
