Robert Half Collections Specialist in Tonawanda, New York

Description We are a company in the financial services sector, located in New York. We're offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for a Collections Specialist. As a Collections Specialist, you'll be responsible for managing and maintaining a portfolio of accounts, conducting regular follow-up with clients, and coordinating with the team to enhance processes.

Responsibilities:

• Managing and maintaining a collection desk of 400-550 accounts on average.

• Regularly pursuing the collection of accounts placed with us.

• Conducting skip tracing of individual claims based on circumstances.

• Reporting and referring accounts to counsel where necessary.

• Closing accounts as required and contacting new clients prior to closure.

• Actively participating in monthly department meetings and other office functions as required.

• Engaging in ongoing detail oriented development through educational programs, classes, seminars, and online training.

• Maintaining detail oriented working relationships within the team, the department, and the larger company.

• Coordinating with the Team Leader and General Collection Manager on process review and improvement for the betterment of the department and our clients.

• Conducting regular follow-up with clients through phone, email, and personal visits.

• Leading by example for your team and the department in terms of work ethic, meeting and exceeding standards, and detail oriented behavior. Requirements

• Proficiency in B2B collections, with a proven track record of successful debt recovery.

• Comprehensive knowledge of collection laws and regulations.

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively negotiate with clients.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, to maintain and analyze data.

• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

• High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all transactions and documentation.

• Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.

• Strong problem-solving skills to identify and resolve payment disputes.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain detail oriented behavior and patience in high-stress situations.

• A high level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.

• Experience with financial software systems would be advantageous.

• Familiarity with the financial services industry, its practices and detail oriented standards.
