Like Google's own ambitions, the work of a Software Engineer goes way beyond just Search. You not only optimize your own code but make sure engineers are able to optimize theirs. As a Software Engineering Manager you manage your project goals, contribute to product strategy and help develop your team. Teams work all across the company, in areas such as information retrieval, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking, security, data compression, user interface design; the list goes on and is growing every day. Operating with scale and speed, our exceptional software engineers are just getting started -- and as a manager, you guide the way.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

Chrome Browser's Tokyo Memory Safety team is working to improve C++ memory safety within the Chromium codebase. We've launched critical features like PartitionAlloc Everywhere, MiraclePtr, and 64-bit Clank and WebView, measurably reducing Use-after-Free vulnerabilities.

In the next few years, we will be implementing technologies to detect significantly more Use-after-Frees (e.g., a Lightweight Use-after-Free detector), along with technologies to mitigate their impact. We'll also focus on automatic std::saponification and further security hardening of the memory allocator.

Our mission is to mitigate a significant percentage of Use-after-Free and Out-of-Bounds bugs in the codebase.

Chrome is dedicated to building a better, more open web. We’re focused on making a better browser (on both desktop and mobile) to help users take advantage of all the web has to offer in a safe and secure way.Chrome is available across all major platforms — iOS, Android, Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. We also built Chrome as an open source project so the entire web ecosystem could benefit from the latest innovations in speed, simplicity and security.

  • Manage a team of engineers in the team while making significant technical contributions, including strategizing the technical roadmap, writing high-quality design docs, implementing low-level features and performance optimizations around the memory allocator, etc.

  • Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).

  • Build the team's product strategy and enable the team to maximize the delivered impact with strong technical expertise.

  • Invest in people to create a positive, respectful, and psychologically safe working environment.
