The Technical Infrastructure Program Manager(TIPM) manages the IT Infrastructure scope of a complex suite of projects and is responsible for the delivery of initiatives across business teams and operations groups within Amazon Fulfillment IT from strategy, conceptual design feasibility, requirements, budget, completed design, implementation, testing, and deployment.

As a TIPM, along with technical knowledge, we expect our leaders to interact with customers, partners and suppliers to understand our business goals and priorities, and to execute rapidly, delivering high-quality results. The candidate will be comfortable in managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical sessions to troubleshoot issues and remove barriers to project success. The TPM will be able to build cross-functional matrix-based teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate unnecessary activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery.

In this role, you will lead launch programs in Australia and work with Regional IT Leadership, Fulfillment Operations, Amazon Logistics, and other customers in developing comprehensive plans to execute the work. The candidate will be comfortable in managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical sessions to troubleshoot issues and remove barriers to project success. The TIPM will be able to build cross-functional matrix-based teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders across multiple time zones, manage capital budgets, eliminate unnecessary activity, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery.

The ideal candidate will be a strong communicator (both written and verbal), and possess at least 10 years of experience in project management of technical initiatives.

Strong judgement, negotiation skills, ability to influence without authority, analytical talent and leadership are characteristics of a successful TIPM. They will also have the capacity to thrive and succeed in a fast-paced environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. In addition to those with infrastructure delivery experience, candidates possessing a proven success in delivery in architecture/design, mechanical/electrical engineering, software/network engineering or IT/telecom infrastructure deployments, will have a distinct advantage.

The TIPM will be familiar with a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle. They'll be able to exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting and metric development/tracking. Other requirements include experience with MS Office, MS Project and MS SharePoint.

Key job responsibilities

Develop and manage IT projects from beginning to end, including project scope, timeline, capacity planning, resource allocation, and project execution.

• Provide project management and direction to ensure the project team has a clear understanding of timelines, risks, escalation path and roles/responsibilities they will undertake within the project team.

• Act as an escalation point for the project team and project stakeholders.

• Maintain knowledge regarding hardware and equipment standards to ensure appropriate equipment orders are procured.

• Proactively manage change control and communicate impact in project scope, identify risks & issues, and devising contingency plans.

• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths.

• Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using the CA PPM tool.

• Track and communicate project milestones, deliverables and risks.

• Provide on-site monitoring and enforcement of installation schedules and vendor quality, inspect prospective and completed facilities in accordance with corporate standards and procedures, and ensure proper follow-up.

• Facilitate formal turn-over with onsite team, support partners and monitor deliverables until agreed upon launch/project milestone is achieved.

• Daily collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.

• Update or develop documentation on processes that are critical to successfully implementing your projects.

• Bachelor’s Degree or 2+ years Amazon experience

This role will include frequent travel within the assigned region and Internationally (30-40%).

About the team

The Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) Deployment (D) team plans and executes large-scale IT Infrastructure projects for all Amazon Operations customers, including Fulfillment, Transportation, and Logistics. We focus on the design, procurement, deployment, and lifecycle of IT infrastructure and equipment. We work with cross-functional peer groups in Operations Engineering, Real Estate, World Wide Engineering, IT Infrastructure Engineering and Tech Deployment and Field Support Global Project Management Office (TDFS Global PMO) to support new facility launches, expansions, and deployment of new business solutions.

Basic Qualifications

-10+ years of experience of managing IT infrastructure projects of new site launches from initiation to closure.

-7+ years of program leadership experience.

-Experience managing project portfolios, budgets and decentralized resources to execute project goals.

-Experience working in a global environment while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.

-Ability to travel frequently both within country and occasional internationally (50%).

-Experience with one or more of the following: LAN, WAN, Wireless, Telecommunications, Systems Administration, low voltage data cabling, or data facilities technologies.

-Experience with procurement of IT equipment.

-Familiarity working with agile methodologies.

-Experience in distribution, manufacturing, logistics, or other warehouse environments.

-Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

-Experience leading cross-functional teams/projects.

-PMP Certification

-5+ years of experience with IT project portfolio management.

-Strong oral and written international communication skills

-Understanding of core IT infrastructure and service concepts.

-Site launch experience of IT infrastructure (WLAN, LAN, end user equipment) in retail, distribution, logistics or similar.

-Large scale IT project implementation experience.

-Experience working with Global (distributed, virtual) teams.

Preferred Qualifications

-Experience of managing projects in the APAC region.

-Data Centre Infrastructure (Power & Cooling) experience.

-Knowledge of the Australian deployment market/vendor strategy.
