Amazon Sr. Product Manager, Inventory Placement, Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) in Tokyo, Japan

Description

Have you ever ordered a product on Amazon websites and wondered how it got delivered to you so fast, and what kinds of systems & processes are running behind the scenes to power the whole operation?

The Senior Product Manager, Inventory Placement will be responsible for developing new ways to get products as close as possible from our customers, in order to increase our speed at the best possible cost, while managing the network physical constraints.

You will have a holistic view of supply and demand within the Amazon fulfillment network and be an integral part in creating and implementing large scale strategic initiatives in inventory placement optimization, delivery speed, transportation cost, labor capacity management and more – all with the goal of better serving our customers. There will rarely be a perfect solution, so it will be up to you to make data driven decisions and manage stakeholder relationships while planning and executing within an ever-changing environment.

The ideal candidate has outstanding business acumen into e-commerce business, excellent analytical abilities, superior communication skills in Japanese and English, and ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. She/he will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity and able to think big while paying careful attention to detail.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own key placement metrics, ensuring timely reporting and developing insights about their evolution, as well as using advanced analytics to suggest new metrics.

  • Identify new opportunities and lay out the plan to improve our placement performance based on data analysis and the voice of sellers/customers.

  • Execute the plan by partnering with tech, sales, marketing, operations, and global stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years total experience in strategic planning and project management

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving business performance

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to work successfully with teams across organization and global teams

  • Demonstrated skills in managing complex processes with multiple business owners, making trade-offs against business priorities

  • Strong quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions and opinions

  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and make things happen in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Japanese – business level / English – business level including verbal and written communications.

  • Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in influencing senior leadership through data driven insights

  • Experience working across functional teams and senior stakeholders

  • Experience in e-Commerce, Supply Chain, Consulting, or Finance

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Logistics / Supply Chain / Mathematics / Science / Engineering
