Amazon Senior Program Manager, Electric Vehicles in Tokyo, Japan

The JP Fleet team’s mission is to provide the vehicles and services that enable Amazon to delight customers with our last-mile operations. This role in the JP Fleet team is responsible for owning product strategy for electric vehicles (EV) across Japan. The role is responsible for evaluating current and new commercial EVs, setting up testing and evaluation processes, influencing roadmaps with our auto OEM partners, and designing the launch strategy for EVs in collaboration with various stakeholders considering charging, parking, and operational challenges.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define, prioritize, and plan Electric Vehicle programs/projects.

  • Build a realistic forecast for the EV transition within our commercial fleet while navigating Japan specific challenges around EV adoption, TCO parity, and charging infrastructure.

  • Generate buy-in for the JP EV product vision with leadership and partner teams.

  • Managing program execution and ensure that the project delivery is to the appropriate levels of quality and in line with its target date.

  • Work cross functionally with infrastructure, operations, and other internal stakeholders to operationalize EV vehicles in our fleet.

  • Ensure EV vehicle uptime and develop a EV maintenance plan to service both vehicles and chargers accordingly.

  • Partner across a range of third party partners, including legacy OEMs and startups.

A day in the life

As a Senior Program Manager, you’ll drive and manage the implementation of creative, data-driven changes in Amazon, leading improvement projects and programs. You’ll use strategic thinking to define and implement an efficient project plan.

Senior Program Managers have significant responsibilities, and you’ll deal with complex operational challenges involving identifying commercial EVs in the market, often changing government regulations, and charging infrastructure feasibility. With a responsibility extending beyond process improvements, you could also contribute to improving other areas of the business and be involved in other Fleet related projects.

Amazon Logistics, or AMZL, handles ‘last mile’ delivery duties in partnership with third-party distribution businesses. We utilize creative thinking and continuous improvement to get millions of physical products into the hands of customers. Our goal is to make our customers’ delivery experience as smooth as possible.

Every year, we raise the bar for customer experience with innovative delivery services to overcome industry wide logistics challenges. Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Business level of English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree, or MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field

  • Experience working in the automotive industry with electric vehicles and/or charging infrastructure.

  • Business level of Japanese

  • Excited about working in a diverse group and contributing to an inclusive culture
