AON Senior Catastrophe Analyst in Tokyo, Japan
Job Title: Senior Cat Analyst
PRIME RESPONSIBILITY OR PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
The incumbent is part of our Japan analytical team responsible for the designing, assessment, valuation, and management of reinsurance programs. This will assist clients in determining the optimal reinsurance arrangements meeting their risk, return and capital requirements. Our team consists of actuaries, catastrophe modellers, engineers, and financial analysts. A core part of your responsibilities will involve interacting with Analytics, brokers and clients throughout both the Japan market and the Asia-Pacific region.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Lead client portfolios analysis using catastrophe models and a pply reinsurance structures to these portfolios
Lead client interaction on reinsurance analysis, cat response and client related bespoke models.
Lead conversations with brokers and actuaries to understand exposures, review mode l ling results, explain modelling limitations and resolve issues promptly.
Lead multiple analytics tasks and client specific projects
Participate in corporate practice groups and committees related to cat modelling and cat risk management.
Develop processes & scripts to facilitate data transfers and optimi s e risk calculations.
Maintain catastrophe modelling systems and manage analysis workflow.
Advise clients on potential incurred losses, post-event and on risk management basis

Strong work ethics
G eneral insurance and/or reinsurance knowledge beneficial
Ability to communicate complex ideas and concepts
Ability to lead teams and be flexible in working to meet deadlines
Ability to approach problem-solving in a practical and innovative manner
Ability to maintain compliance with professional standards, where applicable, as well as company-wide quality initiatives
Qualifications
BA/BSc or higher qualification ideally in, finance, statistics, science or equivalent
Fluent Japanese and English in communication (speaking, listening, and writing)
Strong computer skills in MS Office suites (Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint )
Experience in the following an advantage:
Catastrophe modelling experience with vendor models (RMS, Verisk, CoreLogic)
Relevant catastrophe management work experience: 2-5 years
Programming in VBA, SQL, R or Python
