Amazon Program Manager, Project Management Office, ACES in Tokyo, Japan
Description
This role is responsible for lifecycle management of complex cross-functional programs with significant impact, overseeing the overall program strategy and being accountable for delivering results by tactically guiding teams both within and outside the organization. The role may involve managing programs focused on single process paths in critical business areas, or overseeing large-scale initiatives spanning multiple organizations and regions to support key business objectives. The role may also include responsibility for executing large, complex projects not tied to specific programs. You may be tasked with managing organizational roadmaps, contributing to OP1/OP2 narratives, and owning one or more organizational goals. You will define programs (mission, vision, beliefs), set objectives, analyze data, drive improvements quantified by metrics, and influence resource allocation. You will make decisions about which projects to pursue and their prioritization, taking into account long-term perspectives and understanding the context of stakeholder and leadership decisions. You will ensure programs align with organizational goals. You will understand and share program management best practices, work with teams to improve execution of concurrent projects, and streamline and/or eliminate excessive processes.
Key job responsibilities
Cost out is a program that drives year-over-year cost reduction across JP AMZL through productivity improvements and efficiency initiatives. Each team is accountable for meeting cost reduction targets within the OP2 plan. The program monitors performance, identifies new savings opportunities, and reduces duplicate work. The Cost Out PMO focuses on three goals: automating reporting, streamlining processes, and enhancing business reviews. These efforts support collaboration between business and finance teams, ensure clear communication about program priorities, and secure support to elevate the overall program. The PMO also shares best practices globally with EU, NA, and RoW regions.
At the core of the OP1-2 process, the ACES PMO team coordinates planning and execution. We work closely with EU PMO and JP AMZL PMO teams to create standardized processes, while managing ACES OP1-2 planning and maintaining alignment with JP AMZL's broader goals.Our focus spans two key areas: internally, we consolidate and align ACES OP1/OP2 narratives; externally, we collaborate with JP AMZL teams to create a unified OP1-2 document.We oversee leadership document reviews and serve as a crucial bridge between teams, ensuring smooth communication throughout the OP1-2 process.
About the team
This role promotes the establishment of standardized Project Management Office (PMO) workflows by collaborating with the Global PMO Team under the support of senior managers, collecting best practices, and deploying them to JP. The role provides standardized templates and tools to stakeholders as a centralized one-stop solution for project management, promoting visibility of project status, progress, and business value. It tracks updates, validates inputs, and ensures all necessary tasks are completed before project completion.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of program or project management experience
3+ years of working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams experience
3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience
Bachelor's degree
Knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLookUps) at an advanced level and SQL
Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to determine improvements
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
3+ years of driving process improvements experience
Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
Experience building processes, project management, and schedules
