Job Description

AECOM Markham is seeking a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to lead and execute complex bridge and transportation structure projects from concept to completion. This role offers the opportunity to serve as a technical expert and mentor , guiding project teams while ensuring innovative, high-quality, and cost-effective design solutions. The ideal candidate will bring advanced structural engineering expertise, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to excellence in infrastructure development .

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a technical advisor and senior resource for bridge design and analysis, ensuring compliance with Canadian and international design standards.

• Lead multidisciplinary teams in the design, assessment, and rehabilitation of major transportation structures.

• Provide specialized technical input on structural materials, construction methods, and engineering best practices.

• Oversee quality control reviews , ensuring the accuracy of design calculations, drawings, and technical reports .

• Develop innovative and cost-effective engineering solutions, optimizing structural performance and longevity.

• Prepare and review technical specifications, feasibility studies, and construction cost estimates .

• Collaborate with clients, contractors, government agencies, and internal teams , facilitating seamless project execution.

• Contribute to the development of engineering budgets, project schedules, and resource planning to meet delivery milestones.

• Mentor and support junior engineers , fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.

• Minimum 6+ years of experience in bridge and transportation structure design.

• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Extensive experience leading complex bridge design projects, including major transportation infrastructure.

• Proficiency in advanced structural analysis and design software (e.g., MIDAS, CSI Bridge, SAP2000).

• Strong knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards (CHBDC, AASHTO, etc.).

• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills , with experience supervising engineers and designers.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills , with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

• Proven ability to coordinate with contractors, government agencies, and interdisciplinary teams for seamless project execution.

Offered compensation will be based on location and individual qualifications. The expected range is $105,000.00 - $165,000.00.
