Old Dominion Freight Line Environmental Compliance Analyst in Thomasville, North Carolina

Coordination, maintenance, and support of environmental compliance programs for OD locations nationwide relating to stormwater, drinking water, wastewater, and environmental due diligence.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to corporate compliance programs relating to National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) and Spill Prevention, Controls, and Countermeasures (SPCC); facility Stormwater Maintenance Agreements and stormwater assets; Drinking water/Public Water Supply compliance; wastewater discharge permits; and environmental due diligence.

  • Coordinate preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs) and SPCC Plans, updates, and revisions.

  • Maintain and track local, state, and federal milestones and deadlines to ensure on-time completion of deliverables and regulatory submittals.

  • Coordinate Notice of Intent, No Exposure Certification, Notice of Termination, Discharge Monitoring Report (DMR), Annual Report, and associated NPDES submittals.

  • Develop and coordinate employee training programs to meet NPDES and SPCC requirements.

  • Make interpretations and develop Best Management Practices (BMPs) related to regulatory compliance programs. Assist facilities in preparing for and responding to regulatory inspections.

  • Assist facilities by providing technical & administrative support relating to inspections, maintenance, corrective actions, and reporting of stormwater conveyance and treatment systems. Maintain and track milestones and deadlines to ensure on-time completion of deliverables and submittals.

  • Perform duties to ensure OD maintains compliance with Safe Drinking Water Act regulations relating to potable/public water supplies.

  • Perform duties relating to wastewater discharge permits, including data retrieval and Self-Monitoring Report (SMR) submittals.

  • Review Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) relating to real estate transactions.

  • Perform duties to ensure OD maintains compliance with ongoing Site Assessments, Remedial Actions, and Remedial Monitoring projects.

  • Work in conjunction with third-party consultants to ensure produced reports are technically and grammatical accurate, are prepared according to applicable regulations, and submitted promptly to meet regulatory deadlines.

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Earth/Environmental Science, Engineering, or related degree, or directly relevant experience.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience with Environmental compliance

  • Knowledge of CWA, RCRA, UST/AST, and SDWA regulations

  • Proficiency with MS Office including the ability to understand and develop complex Excel spreadsheets.

  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to simultaneously handle multiple projects and deadlines
