Position Description:

The Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is seeking applicants for a position as Associate Professor or Professor level to advance the School’s One Health instruction, scholarship, and outreach activities. The PhD in One Health Sciences is a new graduate program offered at the School of Veterinary Medicine. This is a Tenure-track position at the rank of associate professor or professor. The start date of a successful applicant could be as early as September 1, 2024.

About the College:

The Texas Tech University (TTU) School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) is seeking applicants for a position as Associate Professor or Professor level to advance the School’s One Health instruction, scholarship, and outreach activities. The PhD in One Health Sciences is a new graduate program offered at the School of Veterinary Medicine.

About the Department/School/Area:

This position is located in the TTU-SVM building in Amarillo, TX. The building contains 26,000 square feet of dedicated research space, core facilities, freezer banks, technical and information technology assistance, and shared equipment. The SVM is located adjacent to the TTU Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) campus which serves as the academic home to the TTUHSC School of Pharmacy. Other TTUHSC academic programs with a presence on the campus include the Schools of Nursing, Health Professionals, and Medicine, as well as the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The One Health Sciences program has five focal areas (One Health; Disease Ecology, Prevention and Management; Andragogical Scholarship; Sustainability of Animal Agriculture; and Molecular Mechanisms of Diseases) that serve as the spokes of the One Health wheel. The PhD in One Health Sciences PhD received the approval from Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) in December of 2022 and welcomed the first cohort in January of 2023.

Faculty Qualifications:

  1. A track record for team-based scholarly activities in One Health;

  2. A Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a related field;

  3. A successful record of graduate instruction, as well as mentoring and advising graduate students and/or post-doctoral researchers; and

  4. A successful record of scholarship directly relevant to One Health. This includes an established record of peer-reviewed research publications, and robust external funding.
