The Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology, McGovern Medical SchoolatUTHealth Houstoninvites applications for tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. We are interested in applicants using multidisciplinary approaches in the broad areas of drug discovery and pharmacology, systems biology, and/or metabolism of human diseases. Candidates will be expected to have a strong record of research accomplishments and an innovative plan for their future research.Highly qualified applicants with substantial extramural funding and teaching/mentoring experience may also be considered for an Associate Professor position.

The Department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology is initiating a new growth phase to build upon its existing strengths ranging from basic membrane biology and molecular pharmacology to whole animal pathophysiology. The department houses a Nikon Center of Excellence Imaging Facility with the latest advances in microscopy instrumentation, while many additional core facilities are available within the medical school. The most competitive candidates will bring complementary expertise or new technology to a highly interactive department. McGovern Medical School is part of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston) and is located within the Texas Medical Center, which is the largest medical center in the world and includes the Texas Therapeutics Institute and the new TMC 3 infrastructure dedicated to diagnostic and drug discoveries. Position Key Accountabilities:

Responsibilities include the development of an extramurally funded, internationally recognized research program and active participation in medical and graduate education.

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MD/PhD degree

  • 4 years or more of additional research experience.
