The Union Health Nuclear Medicine department is looking for team members at the Terre Haute campus who are passionate about challenging and significant work for the good of every patient. Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty that uses radioactive tracers (radiopharmaceuticals) to assess bodily functions and to diagnose and treat disease. Specially designed cameras allow doctors to track the path of these radioactive tracers. Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography or SPECT and Positron Emission Tomography or PET scans are the two most common imaging modalities in nuclear medicine , and you’ll play an integral role by assuring that services are provided within professional standards and organizational policies to assist patients who lean on the Imaging Services team for answers.

    Nuclear Medicine:

  • Associates Degree, Bachelors Degree or Certificate in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine Technology

  • Certified ( or certification eligible) in Nuclear Medicine technologist by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists or American Society of Clinical Pathologist or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board.

  • Must have a current Indiana State Department of Health Nuclear Medicine Technologist License.

  • Minimum of one-year experience in Nuclear Medicine or Radiologic Technology

  • Must possess strong oral and written communication skills, planning skills, problem solving skill and interpersonal skills.

  • Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism, trustworthiness and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.

    Nuclear Med Tech Adviser Essential Job Duties but is not limited to:

    • Patient Care: Requires the exercise of judgment to assess and respond to the patient's needs prior to, during, and after procedures in the nuclear medicine department and in patient medication reconciliation.
  • Quality Control: Requires the evaluation and maintenance of a quality control program for all instrumentation to ensure its proper performance and stability.

  • Diagnostic Procedures: Requires the utilization of appropriate techniques, and administration of non-radiopharmaceutical agents when part of standard procedures, to ensure quality diagnostic images and/or laboratory results.

  • Radiopharmaceuticals: Involves the procurement, preparation, quality control, dispensing, dose calculation, identification, documentation, administration, disposal, storage, and safe handling of radioactive materials used by the nuclear medicine technologist.

  • In Vivo Diagnostic Testing: Involves the procurement, preparation, quality control, dispensing, dose calibration of radiopharmaceuticals and oral, inhalation, or intravenous administration. In some cases radiopharmaceuticals may be administered by other routes under the direct supervision of a physician.

  • Technical Advisor - Works in collaboration with modality technologists, other designated Technical Advisors, Supervisors, Managers. Directors, Radiologists, and/or Accreditation Team members to ensure integrity, safety, and consistency in practice and protocols across their modality. Additional duties including, but no limited to: Responsible for maintaining consistency, appropriateness, and integrity of exam protocols across all modality equipment across the Imaging Services System.
