Description

Robert Half is currently seeking an experienced Controller for a client in the general commercial construction industry. This position is based in Northwest Tampa and offers an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and knowledgeable accounting professional to oversee high-level accounting and financial activities. The Controller will manage and supervise all aspects of the accounting department, ensuring the financial health and compliance of the company.

  • Oversee all aspects of accounting, including billing, financial statements, general ledger, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and inventory accounting.

  • Maintain and document the system of accounting policies and operations.

  • Ensure timely payment of all accounts and manage accounts receivable and debt payments.

  • Monitor cash and funding balances to ensure financial stability.

  • Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts.

  • Prepare and organize financial statements for internal records and review.

  • Develop and manage quarterly/annual budgets and forecasts.

  • Provide financial analysis and decision-making support regarding capital investments, pricing, contract negotiations, and other significant financial matters.

  • Prepare information and statements for internal and external audits.

  • Implement and benchmark operational best practices.

  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal financial laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in accounting, with previous roles as an accountant, accounting supervisor, or manager.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license required.

  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage 300 CRE, Timberscan, Procore, and Microsoft Office 365.

  • Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and GAAP.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical abilities.
