What the Edward Jones UX Accessibility Specialist II does...

The User Experience Accessibility Specialist II works with multiple product teams to incorporate accessibility into products and features. They educate on the importance and impact of digital accessibility, and help teams meet accessibility standards and the needs of people with disabilities.

The ideal candidate will have experience in embedding accessibility into every stage of the product lifecycle. They will have exposure with design reviews for accessibility, annotating designs for Developers, and auditing systems for accessibility using automated and manual techniques. They demonstrate a passion for creating user centered experiences.

What you'll do...

  • Build and maintain effective partnerships with firm peers to increase the knowledge of digital accessibility standards and best practices.

  • Evaluate vendor products for accessibility.

  • Advise product partners on business and accessibility tradeoffs, as well as the impact design and development decisions have on users with disabilities.

  • Partner with User Experience team members to incorporate accessibility considerations into designs, content, and research.

  • Create accessibility annotations for development.

  • Assess the accessibility of products using automated and manual techniques, including testing with screen readers, keyboard navigation, text resize, etc. Report on findings and recommend solutions.

  • Assist with training efforts around digital accessibility, including accessible design, development, and assistive technology demonstrations.

  • Own self-development, staying current with digital accessibility techniques and tools, and demonstrate out-of-the-box thinking.

  • Work independently to support products and advance accessibility initiatives, leaning on leadership or Sr. team members when necessary.

The salary range for this role is based on national data and actual pay is based on skills, experience, education, and other relevant factors for a potential new associate:

Hiring Minimum: $81750

Hiring Maximum: $139194

Skills/Requirements

What you'll need...

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Psychology, Instructional Design or Computer Science preferred.

  • 2+ years experience assessing digital materials (Interfaces, PDFs, etc.) for adherence to accessibility standards (latest version of WCAG level AA)

  • Experience with multiple accessibility and assistive technology testing tools such as JAWS, Dragon, deque, Wave, ZoomText.

  • 2+ years of experience conducting system analysis; planning, designing, analyzing, testing, and implementing accessibility solutions.

  • 2+ years of experience documenting test plans, expected test results, actual test results, identified issues, and steps to replicate accessibility findings.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills, and the ability to present ideas, thoughts, arguments, and information clearly.

  • Responds well to direction, embraces feedback, and champions change.

What will set you apart...

  • Hands-on experience with the latest versions of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, WAI-ARIA and how to implement accessibly.

  • Proven ability to drive multiple development efforts varying in size and complexity.

  • Expertise in mentoring and/or coaching multiple product teams within an agile software development organization.

  • IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS), or other certification is preferred.

  • Ideal candidate will have experience and understanding of the financial services industry and regulatory requirements.

Candidates that live within in a commutable distance from our Tempe, AZ and St. Louis, MO home office locations are expected to work in the office three days per week, with preference for Tuesday through Thursday.*
