Job Summary: The Indirect Tax Manager will research tax regulations, maintain an inventory of all taxing jurisdictions and requirements related to AIS and subsidiaries (20+) entities, interact with regulators and tax auditors, subsidiary controllers, ensure/track tax payments and support the development of strategies to appropriately optimize AIS's tax liability. This role works independently, executing process steps, conducting analysis, ensuring compliance, problem solving, auditing filings, challenging findings and delivering recommendations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage and supervise the indirect tax reporting process in conjunction operating subsidiaries including the timely filing of all returns and remittance of related taxes
Respond to all indirect tax notices and inquiries from taxing authorities
Oversee all indirect tax audits
Indirect tax including sales & use, property, business license, gross receipts and other taxes
Manage appeals of assessed property values.
Oversee the maintenance and reconciliation indirect tax general ledger accounts and evaluate account balances
Research and communicate tax law and regulation changes to stakeholders
Identify indirect tax software solutions for the AIS group.
Calculate, research, and provide information requested by management and external parties
Assist with other areas as assigned
This is a hands-on role
Key Requirements, Education, Experience:
3-7+ years of relevant sales and use tax experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
Highly organized, driven, and motivated
Detail oriented and analytical
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership
Familiarity with ERP systems, Avalara, Vertex or similar tools
Multi-State and Local Tax Knowledge Required
Construction industry experience preferred
Audit experience preferred
