Job summary:

We are seeking a skilled Commvault Backup Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Commvault backup solutions to ensure data protection and recovery for our organization

Responsibilities:

Commvault Implementation and Configuration:

  • Design and implement advanced Commvault backup solutions, including Commvault HyperScale X and snapshot technology, to meet MUFG's operational needs across both AWS and on-premises environments.

  • Ensure seamless integration of Commvault solutions into our banking infrastructure, optimizing for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

Backup and Recovery Strategy in Hybrid Environments:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive backup and recovery strategies that ensure robust data protection and business continuity across cloud environments and on-premises data centers, with a focus on database backups using Commvault snapshot technology.

  • Continuously review and refine backup strategies to incorporate industry best practices and technological advancements.

Database Backup Expertise:

  • Utilize deep knowledge of Commvault snapshot technology for efficient database backups, ensuring minimal impact on production systems and optimal recovery objectives.

  • Collaborate with database administrators to ensure backup solutions meet business requirements for data protection, availability, and compliance.

Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution:

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to Commvault backup and recovery systems in both AWS and on-premises settings, focusing on database backup and recovery scenarios.

  • Provide expert technical support and guidance to internal teams, fostering a proactive problem-solving environment.

Performance Optimization:

  • Perform regular performance assessments of the Commvault infrastructure, focusing on snapshot management and efficiency in both cloud and on-prem environments.

  • Implement proactive monitoring to ensure optimal performance of data protection systems.

Documentation, Training, and Compliance:

  • Maintain detailed documentation of Commvault configurations, backup procedures, snapshot management practices, and compliance adherence.

  • Develop and conduct training sessions for IT staff, emphasizing best practices in snapshot-based database backups and data protection strategies.

Vendor and Cloud Relationship Management:

  • Engage with Commvault support, AWS representatives, and other technology vendors to address challenges, explore new capabilities, and optimize our backup and recovery infrastructure.

  • Assess new technologies for potential enhancements to MUFG’s backup and recovery capabilities, especially in the realm of database protection.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Commvault in an operational/engineering role, including extensive knowledge of Commvault HyperScale X technology and snapshot management for database backups.

  • Demonstrated experience in designing and managing Commvault solutions in complex, hybrid IT environments (AWS and on-premises).

  • Proficiency in AWS cloud services, architecture, and data protection best practices.

  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly within a hybrid IT landscape and in database backup and recovery scenarios.

  • Relevant certifications in Commvault, AWS, or related fields are highly desirable.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a closely-related discipline, or an equivalent combination of formal education and experience

The typical base pay range for this role is between $107K - $134K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
