At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. We are seeking a Construction Buyer to support launch and expansion projects. The person in this role will coordinate and partner with leaders and teams across Amazon.

This leader will work with Pre-Construction, Design and Construction, World Wide Real-Estate, and World Wide Design to develop and execute category sourcing strategies, deliver savings/value and improve productivity across the category.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive individual GC construction category projects, partnering with the team, supporting the delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary, multi-million-dollar sites.

  • Identify, develop and support sourcing strategies, lead key initiatives with cross-functional teams; support the decision-making process of the category roadmap with leadership.

  • Build relationships and alignment with internal and external stakeholders to support the delivery of site launches to meet site construction programs,

  • Deliver individual targets and goals identified across the NA GC construction category scope as well as identifying and delivering incremental process and system improvements

  • Drive General Contractor (GC) sourcing, award, contracting and ongoing support until project delivery, while maintaining commercial relationships with suppliers, with a principal objective of achieving optimal cost and performance;

  • Support supplier performance management; including improving sustainability & social responsibility;

  • Act as a market intelligence provider regarding categories; anticipate strategic opportunities and keep key stakeholders informed

  • You will support to deliver market leading low-cost, innovative and sustainable construction equipment/services to help our Operations teams succeed and delight Amazon.com customers with speed, selection and convenience

  • You will collaborate to seek inputs and manage outputs from our external suppliers as well as internal partners across Design & Construction, Operations Engineering, Workplace Health & Safety and Finance

  • You may have to adapt and sometimes take different roles from strategy development to project management to rapidly meet customer needs

  • You will focus on deep diving categories to unlock value and help deploy emerging technologies at scale for Operations

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Commercial or equivalent.

3+ years of related procurement souring and construction management experience of large, complex projects involving large-scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants.

3+ years of experience in construction procurement activities such as strategic sourcing, contracting site due diligence, design management and procurement strategy development.

3+ years of experience of General contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, contracting, change orders) associated with construction and project execution.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience directly related to the procurement of contractors, designers and construction scope across complex warehousing/critical infrastructure or large scale mechanical and electrical plants.

Experience working on construction projects across NA.

Experience with large scale technical operations, mission-critical mechanical/electrical infrastructure, or large-scale manufacturing/operational sites.

Experience with power management and power monitoring systems.

Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM).

Possess clear English written and verbal communication skills and ability to use data to justify conclusions.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $69,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $124,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
