Key job responsibilities

• Use machine learning and analytical techniques to create scalable solutions for business problems

• Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of Amazon's historical business data to help automate and optimize key processes

• Design, develop and evaluate highly innovative models for predictive learning

• Work closely with software engineering teams to drive model implementations and new feature creations

• Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analysis, model development, model validation and model implementation

• Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approaches

• Mentor junior scientists; review their work and provide feedback

We are seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to build personalized search-based recommendations and evaluate the quality of our personalized recommendation in Amazon-wide scale.

Basic Qualifications

• PhD and 5+ years of applied research experience, or Master's degree and 10+ years of applied research experience

• 3+ years of experience building and launching deep learning and machine learning models for business applications

• Excellent coding and design skills, proficiency with programming languages such as C/C++, Java, or Python

• Several publications at top-tier peer-reviewed research conferences or journals

• Served as Program Committee member in at least one top tier conference

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy, etc.

• Experience with information retrieval, recommender systems, and/or personalization algorithms

• Solid knowledge of big data and cloud technologies (e.g., Spark, AWS, etc.)

• Publications at top Web, Search, Machine Learning, Natural-Language Processing, Computer Vision conferences such as KDD, WSDM, TheWebConf, SIGIR, ICML, NeurIPS, ACL, EMNLP, AAAI, CVPR, etc.

• Served as Senior Program Committee Member, organized workshops or tutorials at top conferences
