NJR Storage and Transportation, a subsidiary of New Jersey Resources is seeking a Mechanical Consultant, a subject matter expert responsible for the support of mechanical operations as it applies to daily activities and associated projects at a natural gas storage facility.

Major Responsibilities:

• Provides technical support and guidance regarding all aspects of the mechanical operations at the Leaf River Energy Center natural gas storage facility.

• Oversees the inspection, repair and overhaul of compressors, glycol reboiler unit including auxiliary equipment, emergency generator, air compressors, leaching pumps and relief valves.

• Provides expertise, guidance, and support as related to mechanical initiatives and projects as required.

• Oversees the preventative maintenance program for storage facility equipment and ensures efficient operations.

• Conducts training as related to mechanical operations as needed.

• Provides expertise and guidance in diagnosing mechanical malfunctions and manages repairs of machinery and equipment. Oversees the related testing, verification, and documenting of said repairs.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in a related discipline or equivalent combination of education and work experience

• 7+ years of related experience required

• Expert knowledge of ECM based control systems

• Expert knowledge of electrical circuitry and wiring associated with Caterpillar Engines and Ariel Compressors

• Expert knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and practices used in the maintenance and repair of major mechanical equipment and systems

• Expert knowledge in the use of general and specialized computer applications to manage information

• Skilled in reading, writing and interpreting work related documents, including blueprints and schematics

• Skilled in the application of routine mathematical concepts to work related operations

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, contractors and management.

This position is deemed safety-sensitive under the U.S. Department of Transportation Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration’s regulations. Among other things, employees in this position are subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing and post-accident testing. PHMSA-required drug tests include testing for marijuana. The use of marijuana, or testing positive for marijuana, is disqualifying and will lead to removal from performing safety-sensitive functions as well as disciplinary action.
