Position Summary:

Samsung SDS America is looking for a Cable Technician / Installer to join our growing team. This position will require onsite presence in a brand-new state-of-the-art semiconductor manufacturing facility. This entails working in a clean-room environment wearing smock suits and required PPE for extended periods of time. The perfect candidate will be expected to demonstrate the proper procedures to terminate category 5e/6/6a cabling. As well be proficient with fiber installation and termination of various interfaces. This position requires the ability to troubleshoot and test cabling infrastructure with industry standard test equipment. Candidates are expected to have a sound understanding of how to implement a structured pathway and the experience to account for any physical constraints that may occur on the desired pathway. The candidate needs to be able to interpret and follow floor plan designs and also able to address any deviations from the plans in a professional manner. Must be able to follow safe working protocols on site at all times.

This position will temporarily join the cable team at the Samsung Austin Semiconductor facility (in North-East Austin) to receive training, and learn about Samsung standards and procedures. After or during training, the work location will move to Taylor, TX to support the construction site network, and later to support the brand new manufacturing facility during implementation and ongoing operation.

This is an onsite role based in Taylor, TX. Employees must live within a 1-hour drive to Taylor, TX.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead in the installation, adjustment, or change of any layer one network requirement for technical systems

  • Perform work under supervision or provide supervision of others in regards to specified scope

  • Install, terminate, test and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling mediums for data infrastructures in a large enterprise environment

  • Properly comb, dress, and label cables following site and industry standards

  • Able to support 24x7 data center and fab operation to be determined by on call scheduling

  • Must have moderate knowledge in computer literacy skills – proficiency in Microsoft Office products, traversing of a standard filing system, general typing skills, and familiarity of proper email etiquette

  • Have the ability to work from a request ticket system

  • Have the ability to document one’s work proficiently and aid in the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Occasional support to network team (rack and de-rack network devices, support during HW replacements, hotfix participation to resolve connectivity issues, etc.) is expected

  • Work in a team environment

  • Follow all on-site security protocols and Standard Operating Procedures, and comply with all company policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma

  • 5+ years of experience in structured cabling industry and semiconductor industry

  • 2+ years of experience in construction experience with the knowledge of standard safety practices

  • Able to speak and write clearly in English

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Cabling experience with the knowledge of low voltage specifications, standards, and safety practices

  • Must be able to work a Monday through Friday 8 to 5pm schedule

  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule when needed (past 5pm or on weekends)

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds, work in elevated areas on ladders upwards of 40 feet, in confined spaces and tight areas for long periods of time

  • Interest and willingness to learn

  • Able and willing to commute to the office in Taylor/Austin, TX 5 days per week

  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • OSHA 10 certification
