The role you’ll contribute:

GENERAL SUMMARY :

The nurse manager is responsible and accountable for planning, organizing, coordinating and evaluating the management & clinical practice activities for the nursing unit(s) under his/her charge.He/she assumes 24 hour accountability by setting measurable goals and objectives so that optimum quality patient care is delivered and staff is developed to exert care in a professional and caring manner.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :

· Interprets and directs the implementation of nursing philosophy and objectives, departmental policies and procedures.

· Applies recognized standards of nursing care and practice.

· Responsible for the day to day operations of the patient care unit; plans, selects and devises nursing operations, work methods, procedures, work flow and standards for quality and of work including staffing standards.

· Reviews budget and provides input for assigned area. Responsible for adherence to approved budget.

· Demonstrates safe staffing management, develops a balanced schedule considering patient needs and skill mix of nursing team, maintains productivity levels, and able to justify variances based on unit variables.

· Responsible for managing all personnel on nursing units. Assigns, directs and reviews the work of Assistant Nurse Managers (ANM)s, charge nurses, coordinators and/or other nursing personnel.

· Coaches and counsels employees when appropriate in a professional, objective, and timely manner with assistance from Employee Relations as needed.

· Communicates effectively with staff, disseminating information about unit, nursing department, and hospital. Uses various communication methodologies to reach staff.

· Prepares and presents annual performance reviews using TalentCare or other AdventHealth approved process for all members of the unit in collaboration with ANMs.

· Monitors and evaluates operations for compliance with licensure, accreditation and regulatory standards with HR assistance.

· Demonstrates knowledge of quality measures that directly affect patient outcomes

· Attends and participates in mandatory facility-wide and department training/meetings as required (including but not limited to: annual education, safety training, etc.). Is able to demonstrate and apply knowledge of fire, safety, security, and disaster procedure regulations as presented in orientation, outlined in the safety manual, and as pertains to each work area.

· Mentors and develops leaders and employees for further responsibilities and growth

· Priorities daily patient visits to ensure quality care and manage the patient experience.

· Role models the AdventHealth service standards of Love Me, Keep Me Safe, Own It, and Make It Easy.

· Presents professionally, exhibiting SHARE behaviors and positive attitudes all times.

· Promotes standards of practices at AdventHealth Waterman

· Monitors compliance with PPID scanning, care plan utilization, hourly visits, and other initiatives as assigned.

· Develops action plans based on Glint, safety culture survey, NDNQI and other survey tools as utilized by the organization.

· Maintains professional growth and development through workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

· Collaborates with Case Management on discharge planning for patients with LOS > 5.

· Demonstrates effective communication skills; is able to report and convey required information verbally and/or in writing; maintains required level of confidentiality; consults with and/or advises appropriate personnel of situations requiring follow-up or attention.

· Ensures confidential patient information on unit is maintained at all times. This position requires knowledge of and compliance with corporate compliance, OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission requirements as they relate to your responsibilities, department, and AdventHealth Waterman.

· Monitors unit performance, shares key performance indicators with staff, and collaborates with staff to foster an environment of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

· Graduate from a school of nursing and licensed in Florida with Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

· EMR experience

· A minimum of three to five years supervisory experience in a leadership role

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

· Master’s degree in healthcare related field

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

· BLS certifications required.

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

· Advanced preparation or certification in clinical specialty

· ACLS
