Citigroup VP Risk Regulatory Engagement & Operational Risk Management Officer (Hybrid) in Tampa, Florida

The objective of this role is to drive the execution of regulatory interactions across Risk Management, to ensure the organization is responsive, agile and well-prepared for unique and complex regulatory requests. The position will require significant project management and stakeholder engagement to ensure that regulatory engagements are thoughtful, comprehensive and culminate in consistent messaging. In addition, there is opportunity to provide senior management with themes that emerge from the feedback received through these points of regulatory contact. The scope of coverage for the role is inclusive of matters primarily pertaining to the Operational Risk Management (ORM) organization, and their respective governance frameworks and practices across several products and sectors. The role will also provide the ability to work across various other risk segments, in particular Model Risk Management .

Team Overview:

The Risk Regulatory Engagement team ensures the Independent Risk organization maintains a strong and productive engagement model with critical regulators, including the Federal Reserve, OCC and FDIC. The team proactively manages the execution of regulatory engagements on behalf of the Independent Risk organization, which includes exams, ongoing supervisory meetings and requests as well as responses to supervisory letters.. The team partners closely with subject matter experts within risk segments to:

  • Oversee and coordinate regulatory examinations and reviews to ensure the risk organization proactively addresses regulatory requests and concerns;

  • Manage regulatory interactions, including recurring liaison meetings and ad hoc information requests, to strengthen regulatory relations from an Independent Risk Management perspective;

  • Produce thematic summaries to Senior Management on regulatory interactions and developments to provide insight and advice;

  • Conduct exam readiness assessments to ensure the organization proactively self-identifies issues and documentation is ready for submission;

  • Support the development of appropriate and comprehensive responses and remediation plans when regulatory issues and concerns are identified; and

  • Work closely with partners in other Businesses and Functions, to ensure consistent and clear communications to regulators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports the coordination of engagement with regulators and internal stakeholder subject matter experts on regulatory exams, regulatory meetings, regulatory On-Going Supervision (OGS) matters, and any regulatory ad-hoc matters that may arise. This includes but not limited to:

  • Coordinating and scheduling meetings,

  • Coordinates, tracks, and monitors deliverables to ensure updates are timely, accurate and consistent,

  • Take concise and thorough meeting minutes for regulatory meetings and provide meetings summaries to ORM stakeholders as needed,

  • Working with relevant internal stakeholder to address any follow-ups that may arise,

  • Maintaining timely and consistent updates to Citi internal systems for regulatory engagement.

  • Supports proactive review of concerns raised and provides advice to senior management on the best approach for responses, including templates for presentations, materials, and other submissions.

  • Opportunity to synthesizes feedback, coordinate and communication key thematic summaries to senior management, and key stakeholders.

  • Establish effective working relationships and partner with key stakeholders and subject matter experts across relevant risk segments to ensure a more integrated approach to regulatory relations.

  • Drive proactive communication with regulators and provide advice to senior management on the best approach to regulatory interactions with guidance on best in class presentations, materials and other submissions provided to regulators.

  • Oversee and coordinate regulatory exams/reviews/meetings that require significant program management across Risk teams, with a focus on ensuring regulatory expectations are addressed on a holistic and consistent basis.

  • Review and provide quality assurance of risk management deliverables submitted to regulators, including but not limited to obtaining the necessary internal approvals, ensure materials are complete as well address holistically and consistently.

  • Supports the creation and maintenance of SharePoint and Teams for documentation sharing, and continuous enhancements.

  • Coordinates and maintains tracking tools and presentations for regulatory / audit engagement and looks to establish continuous enhancements.

  • Assist on any high priority regulatory, ad hoc projects or supports ORM Global Internal Audit (IA) as needed.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry, preferably in a regulatory-facing role that requires superior problem solving and excellent oral/written communication skills (Regulatory, Risk, Internal Audit or Compliance background a plus).

  • Excellent influencing, facilitation, and partnering skills. Ability to build strong internal and external networks.

  • Exceptional writing skills, with ability to synthesize complex concepts and translate into effective presentations to external regulators and Senior Executives.

  • Working knowledge in a broad range of risk management disciplines, in particular Operational Risk Management, including but not limited to Risk Appetite, Risk Identification and Assessment, Fraud, Technology, and Cyber Risks.

  • Experience working at a banking regulatory agency, such as the Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC, and working knowledge / familiarity with prudential regulations, a plus.

  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to "roll up sleeves"; ability to work under pressure and tireless work ethic.

  • Autonomous and highly motivated with the ability to multi-task productively and to work independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Experienced in project management a plus, with excellent organizational, follow-up and time management skills.

  • Experience in regulatory and Internal Audit interaction, exam management/ coordination, and issue management/resolution.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree a plus.

Primary Location Full Time Salary Range:

$113,840.00 - $170,760.00
