Your Opportunity

Management and Technology Consulting (MTC) is Stantec’s industry leading management consulting team, recognized in providing asset and organizational performance, financial, economic, funding, planning, as well as business and operational technology consulting services to communities and utilities across North America. We are seeking a candidate to lead our stormwater financial management practice providing leadership, delivery of strategic projects, and to drive growth of our stormwater financial management service offerings across North America.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with clients and potential clients to understand their needs and problems and apply MTC solutions, solution history, and personal solution history to help grow Stantec’s stormwater practice.

  • Lead and engage in the delivery of financial and management projects, ensuring delivery of high-quality services on time and within budget, focused on, but not necessarily limited to, stormwater projects.

  • Work closely with regional and national leadership to identify and create/incubate opportunities for stormwater management services across the region and nationally.

  • Support business development for the MTC team and support business development in other geographies. Lead business development strategies/activities for stormwater utility development, stormwater fee structure design, stormwater utility database, credit programs, customer portals, and other related services.

  • Recruit, mentor, train, develop, and deploy technical talent.

  • Work closely with MTC team to develop innovative offerings for comprehensive suite of stormwater management offerings including integration of financial, management, GIS, customer portals and billing management.

  • Work dynamically with project teams to identify best-fit solutions to funding of stormwater infrastructure, and operational issues, that involve elevated risk/complexity.

  • Engage in the strategic planning of the MTC team, focused on growth of stormwater practice.

  • Maintain and grow client relationships and lead and/or engage in responses to client requests, RFQs, and RFPs.

  • Maintain knowledge of stormwater operational and technology industry trends.

  • Serve as an independent reviewer of analysis prepared by peers or junior staff to ensure technical accuracy and appropriateness of methods and tools used and solutions evaluated.

  • Meet performance goals and objectives as assigned, with respect to client-specific demands, stated delivery milestones, quality standards, project management framework, mentoring of junior staff, and all required training activities.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in stormwater and other utility financial and management programs as well as related areas, such as strategic planning, organizational performance, and digital solutions.

  • Strong network of active client contacts and relationships.

  • Ability to manage and deliver complex assignments that require the application of broad knowledge with a high degree of initiative and independence.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro and other business systems required.

  • Experience with additional data analysis tools is required, including but not limited to Access, Power BI/Tableau, GIS, SQL, Python, R, etc.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.

  • Capable of presenting/sharing analyses in an interactive work setting while being able to adjust in a live setting.

  • Self-starter capable of efficiently and proactively working independently as well as with a geographically dispersed team on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to recommend and implement changes to policies and establish procedures. Provides input to the annual performance process and career development goals of team members.

  • Strong attention to details, as MTC deliverables are open to public review and scrutiny.

  • Experience and ability to work across disciplines.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, mathematics, finance, economics, statistics, data science, engineering, accounting, or related fields are required. Master’s Degree is a plus.

  • 15 plus years professional experience in management consulting and/or with local government agencies related to water resources (with focus on stormwater but including water, wastewater, reclaimed water), economics, pricing, infrastructure funding, financial analysis and working for local government agencies in these areas.

Typical office environment working with computers.

Willing to travel as needed; mostly regional. Travel may be up to 25%. Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record are required.
