Job Summary:

The Corporate Banking Middle Office Loan Trading Analyst is broadly responsible for coordinating and supporting the primary and secondary loan trading process including funding and documentation aspects. The team is responsible for providing daily operational support to our Syndications, Business Lines and Trading Desk groups.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with our internal trade settlement team, including trading desk and operations teams to settle all primary and secondary loan trades.

  • Prepare and review the LSTA standard loan trading documentation such as Trade Confirmations, Assignment & Assumption Agreements and Funding Memorandums.

  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including Administrative Agents, the review and execution of trade related documents necessary for loan trading settlement per guidelines.

  • Prepare loan trading settlement packages for processing by Commercial Loan Operations/Back office.

  • Effectively communicate and escalate any trade issues to related internal stakeholders.

  • Monitor and manage high volumes of loan trading closings, update data in systems and perform reconciliations as needed between ClearPar and trade applications (ie. Bloomberg, Sentry, etc.)

  • Review and advise on funding mechanics and operational requirements as it pertains to internal booking, according to Operational policies.

  • Ability to review and interpret credit agreements and book credit lines into MUFG’s booking system.

  • Maintain a high level of customer service with quick response times and accurate information to internal and external stakeholders/clients.

  • Monitor unsettled trades and generate reports to management and/or trading desk as needed.

  • Communicate and resolve loan trade issues and any discrepancies prior to the settlement.

  • Liaise and coordinate pre-closing requirements with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. Portfolio Management, Syndications, Credit, Loan and Agency Services, Finance, Legal, and Back Office Servicing).

  • Assist with ad-hoc inquiries from the Front Office, Controllers, Reporting, and the Back Office pertaining to the loan trading closing process and ongoing maintenance.

  • Execution of best practices of control, risk mitigation and escalation.

  • Participate in projects and provide valuable input with various working groups, with the goal to continually enhance performance and efficiency

  • Knowledge of Banking Regulations and Standard Practices. Knowledge of LSTA (Loan Syndications and Trading Association), Bloomberg and ClearPar.

  • Periodically reviews the relevant procedures to ensure appropriate control and consistency with Head Office guidelines and bank regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree plus 1- 3 years of Syndicated Loan Trading experience or equivalent knowledge is preferred.

  • Understanding of the Loan product / Syndicated Loan business, including an understanding of a credit agreement, loan funding mechanics, deal structure, etc.

  • Demonstrated understanding of financial services, specifically within Wholesale and Investment Banking.

  • Prior experience working in a Corporate environment or similar where there is a need to prioritize and balance numerous responsibilities.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members and senior management across and within the lines of business with a keen attention to detail, strong oral and written communication skills, and strong analytical capability.

  • Ability to operate in a challenging and rapidly changing environment with a desire to accept new assignments and the ability to learn new principles and dynamic systems quickly.

  • Critical decision-making abilities including the ability to identify, escalate, and propose solutions to problems.

  • Ability to multi-task through the practice of strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, ClearPar and LSTA guidelines a plus.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $65K - $80K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
