Role Description

As a Vice President within the Commercial Loan Operations team, you will be in a senior role reporting to the Director of Agency Operations or the Director of Member Operations. The Vice President will have responsibilities ranging from production oversight, to process improvement/project and initiative work. The group as a whole has day-to-day operational responsibilities across the portfolio of syndicated credit facilities where MUFG acts as Administrative Agent, Bilateral Lender, or Participant/Member to a syndicated transaction; this is a fast-paced, client facing role in which you will interact directly with Borrowers/Lenders/Agent Banks, senior internal/external stakeholders, legal counsel, etc. on complex, multi-faceted transactions which are often time sensitive in nature.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the streamlining and optimization of loan settlement and servicing, including an in-depth evaluation of loan procedures and industry standards to address and resolve challenges

  • Act as key stakeholder in large-scale Commercial Loan initiatives (e.g.: Loan IQ migration; OCR/RPA initiatives, etc.), able to effectively communicate and drive change from pre-planning through implementation with various change management & technology groups

  • Establish and monitor implementation of appropriate procedures and solutions to mitigate risk and control losses

  • Partner with internal change stakeholders across Operations and Technology to create/enhance the efficiency of workflows, dashboards, and reporting

  • Ensure strict adherence to Service Level Agreements and accounting policies

Functional Skills

  • Loan IQ knowledge as a user, Operations Manager, or Business Owner is required, preferably including active participation in design/migration/implementation/upgrade initiatives

  • Extensive background in managing all aspects of commercial loan servicing

  • Expertise managing and reviewing loan documentation (Credit Agreements, Engagement Letters, Fee Letters, etc.)

  • In-depth knowledge of:

  • Accounting principles and practices related to syndicated lending

  • Risk types, policies, control measures and processes

  • Applicable laws, rules, regulations governing the space

  • Business processes, systems and tools used in the loan market

  • Operational risk that exists throughout the lifecycle of a syndicated loan

  • Systems used to manage the Syndicated lending business: ACBS, Loan IQ, AFS, ClearPar, Syndtrak, Intralinks, Debt Domain, Versana etc.

  • Market initiatives to streamline and automate settlement and servicing, including API integration with industry standard platforms, FpML, Blockchain, DLT, OCR, Robotics/Automation

  • Advanced analytical skills applicable to streamlining operational processes and improving productivity and efficiency

  • Prior industry association or working group involvement (e.g. LSTA, LMA) a plus

The typical base pay range for this role is between $101K - $136K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
