    Job Description

    This is a highly responsible professional position for planning, organizing, and coordinating professional development efforts in teacher retention. The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions. The employee’s time and effort are assigned to a dedicated function as indicated on the monthly payroll. The employee must interact courteously with others. The employee’s performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit. Attendance is an essential function of this position.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review and approve district Add-On Certification programs.

  • Coordinate the review and approval of district performance appraisal systems as required in 1012.34, F.S. and maintain Bureau tracking system on status of reviews.

  • Coordinate, respond and assist with CorrFlow database regarding Educator Quality issues.

  • Assist with the monitoring of grants and programs as assigned.

  • Review and approve individual learning activities for agency employees towards renewal of educator certificates and maintain Course Tracking System database.

  • Assist with the implementation of the professional learning review process required in 1012.98, F.S.

  • Assist in the review and approval of re-developed LEA professional learning system documents.

  • Assist in scheduling and coordination of Department sponsored technical assistance to LEA’s on performance appraisal and professionallearningsystems.

  • Assist with the compilation of Best Practices in induction programs and professional learning.

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of Clinical Educator Training.

  • Assist in production of content for Department supported online professional learning tools and courses and in monitoring content for alignment with Department priorities.

  • Assist community of practice workgroups developing statewide processes for sharing professional learning resources.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to the program area; and of program and grants management processes and techniques.

    Skill using a computer as a productivity tool; utilizing databases and spreadsheets; gathering and analyzing data; preparing reports; managing time to maximize impact; writing and verbal communication.

    Ability to gather, assemble, correlate, and analyze information; to devise solutions to problems; to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders; to prepare reports; to evaluate and interpret programs, policies and procedures; to communicate effectively.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.

  • One to three years’ experience in education.

  • Ability to communicate effectively including verbal and written communication.

  • Ability to travel

  • Experience with public speaking

  • Ability to provide work samples of writing skills for grammar, editing and communication review.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Preferences will be given to applicants who have excellent writing skills, presentation experience and an educational legal background.

    + + Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service. Employees with up to 5 years of creditable service earn 8.667 hours per month, with 5 to 10 years earn 10.833 hours per month and those with over 10 years of service earn 13 hours per month. Employees in Senior Management Service and Selected Exempt Service positions are credited with 176 hours of annual leave upon appointment. In subsequent years, the annual allotment is credited on the anniversary date of the initial appointment.

    BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

    It is the policy of the Florida Department of Education that applicants for employment/volunteer undergo Level 2 background screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.
