Humana MF Production Control & Turn Center Lead in Tallahassee, Florida

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mainframe Production Control and Turn Center Lead to oversee a geographically dispersed team responsible for the smooth operation and efficient deployment of applications on our mainframe platform. This role will have a dual focus:

  • Production Control: Leading a team responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of our mainframe environment.

  • Turn Center: Leading a team focused on the deployment and management of code changes on the mainframe platform.

  • Operations Support: Leading a team focused on the technical support for all teams operating and supporting Mainframe operational areas.

The successful candidate will be a strong leader with a deep understanding of mainframe production control, batch administration, and turn center processes. They will possess exceptional vendor management skills and be adept at establishing and enforcing governance frameworks to ensure the highest quality service delivery from our outsourced partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Production Control:

  • Oversee the daily operations and administration of the mainframe environment, ensuring smooth and efficient processing.

  • Manage and prioritize production jobs, batch schedules, and JCL execution.

  • Monitor system performance, identify and troubleshoot production issues, and implement solutions.

  • Ensure adherence to established production control procedures and service level agreements (SLAs).

  • Collaborate with system programmers and infrastructure teams to resolve technical issues.

  • Maintain detailed documentation of production processes and procedures.

  • Turn Center:

  • Lead the turn center team in deploying code changes to the mainframe platform.

  • Establish and manage the turn center process, ensuring quality, control, and timely deployment.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with developers to understand deployment needs.

  • Create and enforce turn center procedures for code promotion, testing, and deployment.

  • Track and report on turn center activities and performance metrics.

  • Operations Support:

  • Supports mainframe operations of processes, enhancements, support team guidance, solutions, automation.

  • Coordinate and facilitate technical consultation for managing job workload solutions.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with developers to process, standards, etc. for mainframe.

  • Vendor Management:

  • Manage the relationship with our outsourced production control and turn center vendors (onshore and offshore).

  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track vendor performance.

  • Work collaboratively with vendors to identify and implement process improvements.

  • Ensure vendors adhere to established governance frameworks and service level agreements.

  • Manage vendor escalations and resolve service issues.

  • Governance:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive governance framework for mainframe production control and turn center operations.

  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and industry best practices.

  • Conduct regular audits to assess compliance with governance standards.

  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mainframe production control and/or turn center operations.

  • 2+ years of experience leading and managing a team, both onshore and offshore.

  • Strong understanding of mainframe JCL, batch processing, and system administration tasks.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to manage and track performance metrics effectively.

  • Experience with vendor management and building strong vendor relationships.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with mainframe deployment tools and methodologies.

Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.

Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

Pay Range

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.$112,400 - $154,900 per yearThis job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
