About the Role The Terminal Operations Position - Union Casual will support the terminal operation as on on-call, union casual employee. This position requires the individual to be available for work assignments on an on-call basis, Monday through Friday, typically from 8 AM to 6 PM. There is no guarantee of a minimum number of hours, and the job duties will vary daily depending on operational needs. The starting rate of pay is $29.55 per hour and will increase per the collective bargaining agreement. What you'll do: Drive equipment to and from a customer's location within a 50-mile radius. Safely move containers to and from the yard and dock locations, as well as to and from the Port of Tacoma. Load and unload products and materials utilizing a forklift in the warehouse. Perform duties related to auto moves and various shipment moves that require additional handling. Constantly follow safety rules/practices to ensure performance of duties in a safe and consistent manner. Comply with OSHA safe working rules and regulations. Perform additional duties as directed by management. You have these skills: Ability to perform all duties related to commercial driving. Ability to work all shifts and overtime as needed. Please note that this position is on a call-in, as needed basis. All candidates selected to interview must bring a current driving history record going back a minimum of 10 years. Must be able to pass a background, drug screen, and Fit for Duty Test upon job offer. Must join the union and stay in good standing with Teamster Local 174. And these qualifications: Have and maintain a valid Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker, Air Brake, and HazMat endorsements. Current DOT medical card. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card. Must be able to obtain and maintain a forklift certification. Extra credit if you have: One (1) to two (2) years of Commercial driving experience. You meet these physical requirements: The physical demand for this position requires the employee to be physically capable of working in a variety of environments and weather. Physical activities include standing, walking, sitting, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, twisting, turning, bending, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and reaching. Safety shoes with "Metatarsal Protection" are required safety gear. Lifting 2 - 75 lbs. of various types of components, tools, and equipment.
