The Opportunity

This position works out of São Paulo, Michigan site location at Brooklin, in the Abbott Global Security department, within GES - Global Engineering Services Organization.

As the Regional Security Manager Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, you’ll have the chance to manage the various Global Security programs across the region in scope, including Site Security, Travel Risk Management, Employee Safety, Supply Chain Security and Product Integrity, Incident Response and Crisis Management, Security Investigations and management of Executive Protection tasks. This position may also be requested to provide similar services in other parts of LATAM, as needed.

What You’ll Do

Site Security (25%)

  • Enforcement of relevant security policies and processes (Access Control policy, Visitor Policy, screening of contractors) primarily in Sao Paulo office and in other Abbott sites across Brazil as required.

  • Managing security systems (Access Control systems including biometric, CCTV systems, Intruder Alarm systems) for the Sao Paulo office, involving regular on site response to alarm notifications.

  • Management of the 24/7 guard force for the Sao Paulo office, to include quality reviews of adherence to guard orders, implementation of SOPs, upkeep of logs, patrol frequency, etc.

  • Oversight of access control processes, to include the issuing, return and segmentation of access.

  • Proactive identification of systems issues and liaison with vendors to resolve such issues.

  • Key Management for the Sao Paulo office, to include full key musters.

Travel Security Management, particularly support to high risk, remote and VIP travel (20%)

  • Support the coordination of Company Officer trips to Brazil.

  • Manage for Travel Security processes for all travelers, to include where warranted the risks assessing of trips, delivering verbal pre-travel briefs, producing and disseminating travel security protocol documents and traveler tracking). Maintain an accurate log to show the required steps have been completed.

  • Manage secure transport vendors. Review and approve non-security vendor transport providers.

Employee Safety, particularly support to Field Force, threat monitoring and security training (15%)

  • Monitor operational level threat developments, such as upcoming risk events (e.g. protests). Send security notification emails to be sent to all staff in the affected market.

  • Support field force by risk assessing sales routes, activities, promotional events and providing commensurate security mitigation recommendations / mitigation measures.

  • Conduct onboarding for new hires (introduction to Global Security, overview of Abbott security requirements in regards to Site Security, Travel Security, Info Sec). Conduct a range of Security training for staff (anti-hijack, situational awareness, etc.).

Supply Chain Security and Product Integrity (15%)

  • Support respective AGS Program Managers in administering the PI program, to include sales force training and ongoing collaboration to detect and stop diverted or counterfeit product.

  • Support the maintenance of the Supply Chain Security program, including reviews of and collaboration with 3rd party supply chain providers. Lead local Abbott response to supply chain security breaches.

  • Assist in case management, including following up on task quality / completion with vendors.

Incident Response and Crisis Management (10%)

  • Responsible for upkeep and continual improvement of office incident response plans.

  • Ensure readiness of Crisis Action Teams through maintaining plans and infrastructure and running tests / exercises.

  • Readiness to receive calls on a 24/7 basis, and respond to incidents or crisis events.

  • Manage the upkeep of accurate staff contact data in all crisis communication systems. Ensure accuracy via overseeing review and update of staff data.

Physical Security surveys (5%)

  • Conduct Security Quality Reviews of sites as directed.

  • Follow up with Security Coordinators, site Directors, Facility Managers, etc. in Brazil for the implementation of findings from Security Quality Reviews of sites. Assist in implementation where possible / appropriate.

Security Investigations (5%)

  • Investigate any security incidents or near misses involving Abbott staff or assets.

  • Develop and lead implementation of commensurate responses / mitigation measures to reduce the likelihood of future reoccurrence.

Information Security (5%)

  • Information Security enforcement duties to include after-hours clean desk sweeps.

  • Management of adequate oversight of out of hour’s cleaners, repairmen, etc. in the office.

  • Liaising with HR for leavers and movers to facilitate necessary security related processes.

*Role will involve up to 25% travel, and work requirements outside of standard working hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Candidate will have, preferrably, at least 5 years’ experience working in security risk management based in Brazil, within a multi-national company or security vendor. Relevant public sector background is a plus.

  • BSc in related field required. MSc a plus.

  • Proven experience in Site Security and Travel Security Management.

  • Working knowledge of the threat environments across Brazil a must; operational, on ground experience across LATAM a plus.

  • Strong business acumen. Proven effectiveness within the private sector / corporate context is a must.

  • Proficient with MSOutlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint, SharePoint

  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and written in English (fluent), Portuguese (fluent), and Spanish (good to have).

  • Advanced interpersonal skills. Demonstrated track record of representing a security function / security vendor through dignified, professional interaction with all levels of an organization.

  • Proven capacity to effectively integrate security programs into the business; works to the ethos that that Security exists to enable not restrict. Takes a cost efficient, commensurate approach.

  • Strong work ethic. Prepared to hit the ground running.
