SUNY Upstate Medical University Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator assumes responsibility for the coordination of trauma performance improvement activities for University Hospital's Level One Adult Trauma Program. Responsibilities are varied among administrative duties to include; manage/coordinate the process of monthly and real-time chart reviews and quality initiatives for the Trauma PI Committee; create reports with emphasis on trends, changes in activity, data impacts, and analyze TQIP reports. Manages identification of performance improvement indicators as outlined by the DNV, ACS, DOH and hospital criteria; initiates and manages follow-up on identified performance improvement indicators determined by the Trauma PI Committee. Attends trauma rounds daily and validates the integrity of the trauma registry, leads PI projects and understands loop closure. Reporting to the Trauma Program Manager, this position interacts and works closely with entities of the trauma system including the Trauma Medical Director, Department of Surgery, Hospital Administration, Nursing and the Trauma Team. The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator will be active in the State Trauma Advisory Committee, American Trauma Society and be a regional leader in trauma performance improvement. The Trauma Performance Improvement Coordinator must be able to bring together and work across multiple disciplines and service lines to maintain a comprehensive trauma system. Working with the Trauma Program Manager assures data quality and validity participates in appropriate research activities connected with PI and the Database.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered (or eligible) Registered Nurse, Bachelor's Degree in nursing (or equivalent) and a minimum of 4 years satisfactory post licensure acute care RN experience required. Excellent written/oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills required. CPR-BLS required by time of appointment. Candidate must have baseline understanding of statistics and data analysis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in Trauma. Masters degree preferred. Microsoft office suite - specifically PowerPoint, Access, and Excel experience preferred. Experience with quality improvement preferred.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, Days, with occasional off shift.
