POSITION SUMMARY: Patient Access Supervisor operations, maximizing patient throughput while gathering appropriate critical data to secure reimbursement for services rendered. Responsible for leading and managing the work of all onsite front-end operations within the Patient Access department. Motivates staff to achieve the highest levels of customer satisfaction and to meet the organization goals for customer service and financial performance. Optimizes staff performance through process redesign, policy/procedure implementation, communications, continuing education and professional development activities, staff empowerment and outcome feedback.As a mission-driven innovative health organization, we will become the national leader in improving the health of our communities and each person we serve. Position is responsible for but not limited to the management and oversight of the following functions:

  • All Points of Main Registration and CVAU at the Hospital

  • Admissions

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Proficient in the Patient Access Template within EPIC

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Exposure Class I or II, service specific – limited exposure to situation which could cause serious illness or injury (II), routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions, or secretions (I).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Medium work: Must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push and pull.

All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agencies.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

Bachelors preferred or one to two years progressive experience Minimum of three (3) years' experience in hospital Patient Access operations. Minimum of three (3) years’ previous leadership experience. National certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA required within one (1) year of hire. Knowledge of medical terminology, third party payers, business math, ICD and CPT coding. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of federal or state government agencies including but not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, VA or Charity Care programs, or patient management and healthcare accounts receivable within the healthcare revenue cycle. Exhibits supervisory skills that emphasize team‑building and strong leadership with the ability to provide clear oversight and coordination of department services. Demonstrated experience handling escalated issues, educating, and mentoring team members and demonstrating subject matter expertise. Expert knowledge of registration and patient throughput. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment. Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.
