SUNY Upstate Medical University Social Worker- Pediatric Float in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

In this position, the Pediatric Float Social Worker assists with staff vacancies, leaves, unexpected absences, and current uncovered pediatric ambulatory and inpatient social work positions. Social Workers provide comprehensive psycho-social assessment, management, and support to at-risk patients and families. In addition, the social worker addresses social determinants and complex issues. Using a wide range of interventions and treatment modalities, the Social Worker contributes to the achievement of optimum health, satisfaction, and cost-effective care by addressing the behavioral, social, and environmental issues which may impede care. In addition, the social worker works closely with the multidisciplinary team to support the needs of the patients and families, reduce barriers to care and increase optimal health outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications:

M.S.W from a Social Work program accredited by the Council on Social Work (CSWE); M.S.W., L.M.S.W., L.C.S.W. or eligible, 3 years relevant post-master's experience (preferably in a hospital and/or healthcare environment) required. New M.S.W. graduates who are L.M.S.W. eligible will be considered for appointment to entry level (SL2) position at a commensurate salary after obtaining a Limited Permit. Incumbent must obtain L.M.S.W. within 12 months of receipt of limited permit.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, 8:30a-5:00p with occasional on call/holiday coverage on a rotating basis to meet operational needs.
