Syracuse Regional Airport Authority Security Assistant- Temporary Full Time in Syracuse, New York

Syracuse Regional Airport Authority (SRAA), operator of the flourishing Syracuse Hancock International Airport, is seeking a temporary Security Assistant for the SRAA Police Department. This position will start out Full-time, working 36.25 hours per week for approximately 3-6 months (potential to later be temporarily part-time depending on operational need). This person would be responsible for providing general administrative and clerical assistance of a confidential nature to SRAA Police Department. Previous administrative experience in law enforcement or government with excellent customer service and organizational skills is highly preferred. This position is focused on the organization and maintenance of records in the SRAA Police Department, and other records related to the public safety and security of the airport. Below are typical work activities for a position in this title in a temporary appointment:Typical Work ActivitiesAssists in maintenance of all records relating to public safety and security of airport.Assists with compliance with all aspects of DCJS regulations and CFR49 Part 1542, including employee training.Assist in collecting and transmitting a variety of data to the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, Transportation Security Administration and Syracuse Regional Airport Authority.Assist in maintaining all records related to public safety and security operations including trainings and fingerprints.Participates in meetings as required.Any other tasks or activities as directed by the Chief of Police, or designee. Job Requirements Thorough knowledge of modern office policies, procedures, terminology, and standards.Demonstrated ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Strong computer/technical skills and ability to learn and use new programs as needed, including Microsoft 365Excellent attention to detail skills.Ability to learn, understand and follow the regulations under CFR49 Part 1542.Ability to learn, understand, and follow Airport Police and Security guidelines and practices.Good knowledge of DCJS regulations and FAR Part 139.Good knowledge of airport operations and regulatory agencies.Ability to effectively work with a diverse work force.Ability to give information verbally and in writing in a courteous and easy to understand manner.Ability to be courteous to all people served through the security office, including tenants and employees.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Minimum QualificationsGraduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a baccalaureate degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field, orGraduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Associate degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field and two (2) years of administrative support work, orFour (4) years of experience in administrative support work, orSome combination of the above education and experience.Preferred QualificationsPrevious administrative work at a Law Enforcement agency in NYS, or other governmental agency.Special RequirementsMust obtain and maintain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) clearance.**Any offer of employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment background check and security clearance.BenefitsTemporary employees are eligible for parking flexible spending accounts, PTO for cancer screening and volunteer time, New York State deferred compensation (457b), Employee Assistance Program and optional membership in the New York State Local and Employee Retirement System.Salary/Hours$23.00+ per hour depending on experience.Must be able to work regular full-time schedule for the duration of 3-6 months.Application InstructionsInterested candidates should apply online and include education and work history in your application or resume, and 3 professional references.SRAA is an Equal Opportunity Employer, dedicated to developing a diverse and inclusive workforce that is representative of the people and region we serve, and encourages people from all backgrounds to apply.To learn more about our organization, visit: www.syrairport.org
