SUNY Upstate Medical University Quality/Safety Officer in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

Functions as Quality/Safety Officer, Department of Pathology. May perform technical work as workload demands in the Core lab. May perform competency assessment of staff. Duties include:

  • Generating annual Quality Plan with Medical Director.

  • Designing audits and tools to capture audit data.

  • Coordinating Inspection and Accreditation activities.

  • Maintaining NYSDOH permit information as it relates to Proficiency testing and monitors ongoing progress related to action plans and coordinates completion of the NYSDOH Laboratory Evaluation Report

  • Coordinating responses to Safety Intelligence System.

  • Coordinating responses to the ECRI Safety/Recall System

  • Reporting all activities to the Departmental Quality Assurance committee.

    Minimum Qualifications:

NYS license to practice in a Clinical Laboratory required. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field and 6 years laboratory experience to include 2 years supervisory experience required. Excellent communication and customer service skills are required. Ability to distinguish colors for the purpose of performing laboratory tests.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control preferred. Master’s degree preferred.

Work Days:

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm
