Trinity Health Monitor Technician Supervisor in Syracuse, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Monitor Tech Supervisor is a dynamic leadership role that contributes to the operational management of Heart Central. An individual in this role ensures compliance with telemetry standards and maintains a working knowledge of policies and procedures to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior. A Supervisor provides department-based leadership while engaging staff and promoting continuing education. A Supervisor helps to identify problems, offers solutions, and participates in their resolution. A candidate for this role should be proficient in telemetry, operating monitoring equipment, managing staff, making decisions independently, and assuming managerial duties as necessary.

What you will do:

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement staffing plan to ensure adequate department coverage.

  • Evaluate retrospective, current, and prospective department productivity and adjust to reach targeted levels.

  • Interview, train, and evaluate staff.

  • Collaborate with education services to facilitate orientation initiatives and provide preceptor education and support.

  • Coach, mentor and support staff.

  • Participate in hiring, evaluation, initiating corrective action and terminating employees as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Educate team members in theoretical and clinical competencies associated with telemetry.

  • Maintaining the prescribed workload including advisement and committee responsibilities.

  • Collaborate with department leadership to provide formal feedback through performance development process.

  • Collaborate with department leadership to achieve departmental and organizational quality improvement and outcome-based initiatives.

  • Assessing equipment functionality and reporting problems to designated staff and follow up as directed. This includes the maintenance and tracking of telemetry transmitters.

  • Develops and maintains orientation of new colleagues.

  • Maintaining department inventory.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification:

  • High school education or equivalent. Ideally the candidate will have strong telemetry skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills. Possess leadership skills and have a proven track record of success as a monitor technician.

  • Clinical setting-Exposure Class I—Routine or potential exposure to blood, body fluids, excretions, or secretions.

Physical Demands:

  • Sedentary work: Sit for extended periods of time, light physical work, vision, and physical dexterity adequate to accurately do role.

Work Contact Group:

  • All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agencies.

Supervised by:

  • Department Manager and Director

Pay Range: $20.20- $29.30

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
