Arconic Machinist II - Grinding (2nd Shift) in Sylmar, California

Arconic Fastening Systems (AFS) is seeking a Machinist II (Grind) on our 2nd Shift, for our Sylmar, CA location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works under direct supervision of the manufacturing Supervisor and/or Department

  • Works directly from shop manuals, manufacturers’, specifications, blueprints, and shop drawings under direction of department lead

  • Reviews work for completeness and quality of workmanship

  • Performs all work within established standards of production and the piece per hour capacity of machine under direction of department lead

  • Will exercise proficiency in reading and interpreting blue prints, shop drawings, and planning documents

  • Loads and unloads parts from machine

  • Will assist higher labor grade operators in checking dies for wear, learn how to make machine adjustments after setup to bring back into tolerance, SPC during operation for dimensions through measurement for accuracy of parts

  • Will assist with set-up machine tools and fixtures for operation to produce parts

  • Move parts to next operation

Key Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work overtime and Saturdays as scheduled

  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment

  • Must follow established housekeeping and safety practices to maintain quality of work environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Highschool diploma or GED required

  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fastener Industry knowledge a plus

  • 6 months – 3 years of manufacturing machine shop experience preferred

  • Previous aerospace experience preferred
